Zero / Hour
Produced and directed in just two days for the 2010 Austin 48 Hour Film Project, 'Zero Hour' is Atomic Productions' sophomore effort in the sci-fi genre, this time playing into the intruguing required sub-genre: timetravel. When a team of three young men are sent back in time to stop a crime before it ever happens, their situation corrodes as suspicions arise of murder and foul play. Amnesia, dissent, and gunfights abound, 'Zero Hour' is one of Atomic's most ambitious projects to date. Shot on a Canon Rebel T2i with kit lens and edited in Sony Vegas 9, the film was produced with many segments shot at the very last minute, hence some wider angles toward the end. Regardless, we feel that the cinematography for this film in particular is appropriate, in that it is intended to - first and foremost - support the performances of the actors on screen. While timetravel itself is intriguing, we sought to examine the interpersonal conduct of those involved in the process; and the cinematography is therein a result. VVIP choppers deal: Italy probes €51mn payment to consultant - NewsX
The Italian government is investigating allegations that helicopter maker Agusta Westland paid a commission of 51 million Euros or over 350 crores to a Switzerland based consultant for a deal to sell 12 VVIP choppers to India. Investigators raided the Swiss offices of the consultant - Guido Ralph Haschke, after a former top employee of Agusta Westland revealed that he was hired to 'facilitate' the 3500 crore deal with India. Remember NewsX was the first to bring you the story way back in February that Defence Minister AK Antony has ordered a probe into the VVIP chopper deal with Italy. As per the contract, the first chopper was to be delivered by the end of the year. The probe has now obviously cast a shadow over the deal. All eyes on whether it will be put on hold or be scrapped. ACROSS TEXAS SPRING BREAK 2012
Over spring break 2012, the Atomic Productions crew - including me - went on an impromptu tour of Texas. It was 12:00 Sunday Night and I get a call from Ben saying he wants me to come shoot in Houston the next day. So being the wanderlust bachelor that I am, I left at 2:00 am Monday morning. After the two day shoot in Houston, Andrew calls asking if we wanted to go straight to the Hyatt Regency Hillcountry Resort and Spa in San Antonio. So, being the hardworking young men we are, we decided to go. Relaxation, good laughs, a few fights, and about a million lazy river rides, we got back to the weird town of Austin. Then, I get a call asking if I am available that weekend to shoot a Christian Rap Documentary at SXSW which is where I met the incredibly humble and talented Jerrell Johnson... who you all need to check out. Diese Darstellung unterschlägt die Entfernung der einzelnen Orte zueinander, behauptet sogar deren Verschwinden. Als ich letztes Jahr in Argentinien einem Bauern gegenüber stand, dem von Sojabaronen auf halblegalem Weg die Anbaufläche entwendet wurde, sah ich eine direkte Verbindung von seiner kargen Hütte zu dem Schnitzel auf meinem Teller im Prenzlauer Berg. Das bestätigt das alte Bild, vom armen Bauern als winziges Zahnrädchen im riesigen Getriebe. Aber darin liegt auch eine große Hoffnung, denn wenn das so ist, heißt das in seiner Umkehrung, dass die Macht dieses kleinen Bauern weltweit ist, weil einem riesigen Getriebe aus vielen Zahnrädern auch etwas fehlt, wenn das kleinste Rädchen fehlt. Oder anders gesagt, je komplexer das System, um so anfälliger seine Konstruktion. The Curious Robot
In Bielefeld, work is carried out on a bimanual anthropomorphic platform including the torso BARTHOC as a communication partner. We study interactive robot learning within a object learning scenario, ie labeling, grasping, and removing objects, aiming at a more natural human-robot cooperation. In particular, our research focuses on: bimanual action, representation and execution, tactile sensors and manipulation based on tactile feedback, online-learning object detection, integration and coordination of perception and action and principles of human-robot dialog, including non-verbal communication, combination of exploratory and guided learning.
