Gymnastics Montage: Not Always Happy Endings

A montage about the sad stories in olympic gymnastics. I cannot even imagine the pain of training your whole life for a dream then having it taken away. Footage includes Julissa Gomez, Christy Henrich and Yelena Mukhina, whose stories are perhaps the greatest examples of tragedy in gymnastics. Also included is Sang Lan, who is a very inspiring amd courageous woman. She has managed to keep a positive outlook on life and do many great things. She hopes to be one of the final torchbearers at next year's Beijing Olympic Games. The other gymnasts I chose becasue they were perhaps the best examples of gymnasts forced to retire in their prime, or before their career even really began. I also included those who never lived up to expectations, those supposed to be the next big thing who were then forced to watch their dreams slip away in the spotlight. REST IN PEACE: Julissa Gomez Christy Henrich Yelena Mukhina Alexandra Huci The song is 'Bittersweet Symphony' by the Verve.

Chinese Gymnasts Underage? Maybe Not.

Are the 2008 Chinese Olympic gymnasts underage? Maybe not. This gymnastics video is an excerpt from the documentary film "Dream Weavers 2008" (Zhu Meng 2008). It was the opening film of the 11th Shanghai Film Festival that ran from June 14-22, 2008. (Yes, the same film festival that actress Sharon Stone was banned from attending!) The documentary, which took director Gu Jun seven years to make, captures events leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and how various lives were affected by this major international event in China. [00:00] The video begins with a scene where Grandmother Guo Guilan is having one last New Year's eve dinner at home with her family. Her ancestral house, a place where her family has lived for three generations, will soon be demolished due to construction of Olympic Park. Very sad, but the scene was included only to establish the date, which is clearly shown in the first 4 seconds to be February 1, 2003. (Note: The documentary presented events in strict chronological order. Although not shown in this video, the next date that appears in the documentary is during the National Stadium design competition on the 3rd of March. One can therefore conclude with certainty that what appears in this video occurred sometime between February 1 and March 3, 2003.) [00:34] The scene switches to the training gymnasium of the National Olympic Team. [00:49] Narrator states that the girls are "eligible for international competitions at age sixteen." [00:51] The ...

America's Best Tumblers Gymnastics Floor Montage

This is a montage of the 8 best tumblers the US has ever produced in women's gymnastics. The gymnasts in this montage have competed some of the most difficult tumbling passes in the world and are all extremely powerful. These 8 best gymnasts are Alicia Sacramone, Chellsie Memmel, Jamie Dantzscher, Jana Bieger, Kristen Maloney, Shawn Johnson, Tia Orlando and Vanessa Atler. Here are some interesting facts: 1. The double-double done by Shawn Johnson and the 1/1 double layout done by Kristen Maloney are both G (the most difficult) elements in the 2006-2008 code 2. Jana Bieger has also done a 1/1 double layout 3. Jana Bieger and Kristen Maloney are the only two US gymnasts to compete both a 1/1 double layout and a double layout in the same routine 4. Tia Orlando has competed a double front in the piked position 5. The arabian double pike done by Chellsie Memmel and Alicia Sacramone was a super E (the most difficult) element in the 2001-2004 code. 6. Kristen Maloney had the most difficult floor routine at the 2000 Olympics. 7. Jamie Dantzscher and Kristen Maloney were the only two gymnasts at the Sydney Olympics to compete 3 E tumbling passes (the most difficult in the 1997-2000 code) 8. Tia Orlando and Kristen Maloney both trained at Parkettes 9. Jamie Dantzscher and Vanessa Atler both trained at Gliders Other honourable mentions include Liz Tricase, Courtney Kupets, Carly Janiga and Kristal Uzelac. Who do you think is the best?

The Differences Between Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics

Okay, I have worked very hard on this one. My computer kept on screwing the video up and I had to redo the whole thing several times. Anyway, I made this to point out that artistic gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics aren't the same. I showcased the main 6 differences between the two sports, but there are many more. Music: Nostradamus by Maksim Mvrika (This is also my clubs music) *PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT KNOW ALL THE OF THE FAMOUS ARTISTIC GYMNASTS; I JUST PICKED VIDEOS WITH GYMNASTS WHO HAD GOOD ROUTINES IN THE CLIPS. PLEASE DON'T CRITICIZE THIS VIDEO BECAUSE A FAMOUS GYMNAST IS NOT IN THIS LIKE MANY HAVE ALREADY DONE! *

My Gymnastics Journey

Sorry this is so long but I decided to make a video about my journey in gymnastics. I know I'm not the worlds best gymnast, and I have never claimed to be. But it's hard to find anyone more passionate than me. Starting gymnastics later I had a lot of things going against me and I still do. Considering how bad I was at the beginning and the setbacks I've faced, I know a lot of gymnasts in my situation would've quit by now. But it's really not about how good you are or anything else, it's about how much you love it. I found out I had some serious back problems over 6 months ago now, but I'm still working hard to overcome them. Doctor's have told me to quit but I still refuse to give up! I know a lot of people said they were inspired by my home training video, so if nothing else I hope this vid might inspire people not to give up on their dreams.

Front Walkover Tutorial for Dance, Cheerleading and Gymnastics Training

www.fitforafeast.com Front walkover gymnastics tutorial - how to do a front walkover. You should master your bridge first, then practise the front walkover using some of these tips. We had alot of requests to make a video about how to do a front walk over so hope this helps! It is best to practise on mats or a softer surface with nothing in the way you can bump up against. Start with bridges and the half way steps until you get comfortable. As with any gymnastics exercise you want to warm up muscles first with some stretches and go at your own pace so you avoid injury. See some of our stretching videos on more tips for warm up exercises. Front walkovers may be considered ballet moves in dance too or they are called kickovers. Cheerleaders, dancers and gymnasts perform front walkovers as part of their routines.

How to do the Iron Cross- Gymnastics Skill Training Tutorial

The iron cross is increasing popularity in the fitness community as groups such as various calisthenics/bar athletes, crossfit athletes are beginning to integrate ring training into their fitness routines. A gymnast must hold the position for 2 seconds in order to receive credit for the move. Understanding internal rotation and external rotation will help. Sam explains that the support phase must be solid! So practice that along with the back and front levers.
