The Great Gibson Guitar Raid: Months Later, Still No Charges Filed
"They...come in with weapons, they seized a half-million dollars worth of property, they shut our factory down, and they have not charged us with anything," says Gibson Guitars CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, referring to the August 2011 raid on his Nashville and Memphis factories by agents from the Departments of Homeland Security and Fish & Wildlife. The feds raided Gibson for using an inappropriate tariff code on wood from India, which is a violation of the anti-trafficking statute known as The Lacey Act. At issue is not whether the wood in question was endangered, but whether the wood was the correct level of thickness and finish before being exported from India. "India is wanting to ensure that raw wood is not exported without some labor content from India," says Juskiewicz. Andrea Johnson of the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) counters that "it's not up to Gibson to decide which laws...they want to respect." She points out that Gibson had previously been raided under The Lacey Act for imports from Madagascar. This much is clear: The government has yet to file any charges or allow Gibson a day in court to makes its case, much less retrieve its materials. "This is not about responsible forestry and sustainable wood or illegal logging, this is about a bureaucratic law," argues Juszkiewicz, who testified last year before a congressional hearing convened by Sen. Feds raid Gibson guitar
Last week the Federal Government issued warrants to raid two Gibson guitar factories in Tennessee. It is alleged that the materials that were being used to make the guitars was breaking international laws. The controversial material that was confiscated was wood shipped from India. Gibson Guitar Corp. Responds to Federal Raid
Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp., has responded to the August 24 raid of Gibson facilities in Nashville and Memphis by the Federal Government. For TABS and BACKING TRACKS, check out: gewerh44.blogspot.com This is my cover to Stairway To Heaven, a mythic song from Led Zeppelin's album with no name, often called Led Zeppelin IV or ZoSo album (released on 1971). Six years ago, I decided to learn guitar when I listened to this song being played by a friend. Stairway To Heaven gave a twist to my mind and changed my life forever. This is my humble tribute to this amazing song. I didnt cover the 8 minutes of the original song. My cover lasts 5 minutes and a half, I omitted some of the verses because the guitars repeats the same over and over. This cover took me 3 months to get it done, only cuz I wanted to take my time to record each guitar part, to find the right tone for each one of them, etc. I couldve made this cover in a week, but the result wouldnt have been the same. I know Jimmy Page used a Telecaster to record the guitar solo, but I dont have one and I dont have a single pickup guitar, so I used my Gibson Les Paul Custom, I think it gives a different but pleasant feel to the solo. Guitar Tone Capacitors, part 1: Evaluating Material Types
www.planetz.com . In part one of this video on tone capacitors, I demonstrate the sound characteristics of 7 different capacitors with dialectrics of different material types. The caps I try here are: Orange Drop 225P 100V (polypropylene), Mallory 150 series (metallized polyester film), Russian K-409 PIO (paper in oil), mystery vintage yellow cylinder (identified as WMF 1S22 Polyester Film 100v from CDE Cornell Dubilier), the original Epi tone cap from my Riviera (probably mylar polyester film), mystery vintage gray cylinder (identified as Mullard/Phillips Mustard polyester foil/film 630v), and a vintage tropical fish (polyester film). Everything is played on my Epiphone Riviera P93 with Vintage Vibe Guitars P-90 pickups, through my Vox VT30 on the Boutique Clean model, mic'd with a Rode NT1 large diaphragm microphone. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. UBG#2 -On Tuesday August 5 we reconvened at the field behind the Station 41 fire department in Waverley NS to shoot the second video in the trilogy, United Breaks Guitars Song 2. Once again, everyone volunteered their time and talent to produce an outstanding video; however, Song 2 was a much bigger production than United Breaks Guitars. In addition to the main roles, we had nearly 100 extras in the cast and in order to say everything we wanted to say with the video, we required a broken guitar, an imitation broken guitar, a 40 foot high scissor lift, a limousine (complete with secret service agents), one genuine imitation space capsule, a space suit, a tuba, 3 suits of German Lederhosen, a canoe, one white panel van and a woman willing to wear tights and a big dollar sign.

i saw a few other charts out there, but most of them were riddled with note inaccuracies. so i decided to make one myself. it's still probably not COMPLETELY accurate (what you see in the video is the first draft, which i did by ear), but it's reaaaalllllllly close (i hope), and at least MUCH more accurate than other charts. song name is "le Internet Medley" by The GAG Quartet. original video is here: www.youtube.com download the chart for use in your legal copy of GH3 here!: gha.theantifanboy.com expert difficulty only. currently no support for Phase Shift. also, this features both guitar and bass. i split the audio file into two and made it so that the guitar parts came from the left speaker and the bass parts from the right, if you want to try and compare the note charts to the actual instrument performances. i wanted to chart all the instruments, but i've never charted keys, vocals, or drums before. plus, GH3 only accepts guitar and bass, so... maybe someday in the future when we start using phase shift instead of guitar hero. :P also, this is a bot performance. i'd have played it myself instead of letting the bot do the work, but for some reason, GH3 for PC does NOT want to cooperate with multiple RB stratocasters, and those are all i have left, since my GH guitars are broken. plus, GH guitars make my hands hurt like hell. stupidly dimensioned necks and such.
