How the Internet can Green the Electrical Grid
Google Tech Talk April 13, 2010 ABSTRACT Presented by S. Keshav. Several powerful forces are gathering to make fundamental and irrevocable changes to the century-old grid. The next-generation grid, often called the `smart grid,' will feature distributed energy production, vastly more storage, tens of millions of stochastic renewable-energy sources, and the use of communication technologies both to allow precise matching of supply to demand and to incentivize appropriate consumer behaviour. These changes will have the effect of reducing energy waste and reducing the carbon footprint of the grid, making it `smarter' and `greener.' In this talk, I will demonstrate that the concepts and techniques pioneered by the Internet, the fruit of four decades of research in this area, are directly applicable to the design of a smart, green grid. This is because both the Internet and the electrical grid are designed to meet fundamental needs, for information and for energy, respectively, by connecting geographically dispersed suppliers with geographically dispersed consumers. Keeping this and other similarities (and fundamental differences, as well) in mind, I propose several specific areas where Internet concepts and technologies can contribute to the development of a smart, green grid. jQuery Grids - really simple
Everyone needs grids. But people make them too convoluted to implement. My solution uses a simple table, include a js, and css file. Then write you PHP method which just creates a new Grid object. South Korea power households plug into smart grids
2000 homes are currently hooked up to a pilot project on the island of Jeju, South Korea, testing a new type of electricity supply system, called a smart grid. Lim Kee-Chu, whose home is hooked up to the system, has had $20000 worth of solar power technology installed. The South Korean plan calls for at least three city grids to go 'smart' by 2013, and for 10 per cent of energy to come from renewable sources by 2020. Al Jazeera's Harry Fawcett reports from the South Korean island.

There was some criticism when n-Space revealed the first images of this game, calling it cartoony. First we see 56096 storming through Barnetby with empty coal wagons from Scunthorpe steel works bound for Immingham coal terminal. 5th November 1992. Next is a shot of 56060 departing the land fill site at Stewartby with empty contaminated soil wagons that originate from Chatham dockyards. This service will run to Hoo Junction before being tripped along the dockyard branch on 29th April 1992, Hither Green is the next place visited as 56059 powers out of the station with a loaded sand train from Cliffe heading for Acton on 17th June 1992. Finally we see 56095 at night departing Immingham with a coal train heading for eggborough power station on 10th January 1994.
