Wayne Gretzky's daughter, Paulina Gretzky, had a Twitter page that looked like it could belong to any 22 year-old American girl, but maybe with just a little more skin showing than some. Wayne Douglas Gretzky, CC (born January 26, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and former head coach. Nicknamed "The Great One", he is generally regarded as the best player in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL), and has been called "the greatest hockey player ever" by many sportswriters, players, and the NHL itself. Upon his retirement on April 18, 1999, he held forty regular-season records, fifteen playoff records, and six All-Star records. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season -- a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, he tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. Gretzky's jersey number, 99, has been retired by all teams in the National Hockey League. He was voted one of six players to the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) Centennial All-Star Team in a poll conducted by a group of 56 experts from 16 countries.[1] Born and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Gretzky honed his skills at a backyard rink and regularly played minor hockey at a level far above his peers. Despite his unimpressive stature, strength and speed, Gretzky's intelligence and reading of the game were unrivaled. He was adept at dodging checks from opposing players, and he could consistently anticipate where the puck was going to be and execute the right move at the right time. Even though ice hockey is a regional sport with only a handful of countries in the top flight, there are legends associated with the game. Gretzky is up there with all the greats of others sports, Pele, Borg, Cruyff, you name it. It's a cheesy little film - as only Americans can make cheesy films - heavy on the syrupy soundtrack - but it is cool and inspirational. The 2 greatest players of All-Time had not only joined forces under the red and white of the maple leaf... but united on the same line! There will never be another Wayne or Mario again this was truly a great time to be a Hockey fan. Following the exciting 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union (Canada won that one too!), interest in a world professional ice hockey championship increased substantially. The Canada Cup would bring together the top hockey-playing countries in the world. It was held in 1976, 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1991. It featured competition between teams representing Canada, Czechoslovakia, Finland, the Soviet Union, Sweden, the United States, and (in 1984 only, taking the place of Finland) West Germany. All the tournaments were won by Canada except the 1981 tournament, which was won by the Soviet Union. The 1987 event is often called one of the most spectacular in hockey history.

Winning eight consecutive road playoff games en route to the Stanley Cup Finals, the Los Angeles Kings have drawn the attention of Wayne Gretzky, the man who guided the franchise to its last Cup appearance back in 1993.The Great One told the LA Times he likes what he sees from the current squad."It's been unreal what they've done and what they've accomplished so far," Gretzky said. "It's been unreal for the organization and it's been great for hockey in California and LA"He admitted he's become quite the fan during the Kings' playoff run and even has plans to attend their first home game on June 4. However, Gretzky reaffirmed he's not looking to get back in the game anytime soon.

Kerry Fraser doesn't call Wayne Gretzky's high stick (original CBC feed)
This is the original CBC feed of one of the most controversial plays in NHL history: Wayne Gretzky's high stick on Doug Gilmour in overtime of game six of the 1993 conference finals. Although NHL rules called for an automatic major penalty and an ejection, Kerry Fraser chose not to make the call. Gretzky scored seconds later, and the Kings went on to win the series. Years later, Fraser told reporters "I was screened on the play, the replays clearly show that". Note that replay actually shows that he had a clear view of the play and was looking right at it. In 2000, Time Magazine called this play "The Worst Thing That Ever Happened In The Millenium".
