Download on iTunes: bit.ly Links: twitter.com/greatlakeswim www.facebook.com/greatlakeswimmers "Pulling On A Line" Lyrics: The line runs through like a train in a book Or metres underwater, ending with a hook It sways in the air when there's wind enough to lift, The fine ones are boundaries when There is a rift I'm just pulling on a line, on a line I'm just pulling on a line I'm just pulling on a line, on a line Sometimes it pulls on me The line, it inks across the freshly fallen snow, Where only those embracing coldness would go It whistles and it whispers, and sometimes it howls, anekatips.com It sings to me sweetly from the trees and in vowels I'm just pulling on a line, on a line I'm just pulling on a line I'm just pulling on a line, on a line, And sometimes it pulls on me The line, it writes itself across the dark sky, In the electric flushes ending with a sigh It weaves itself into a fabric so true and flows just like the river, graceful and blue I'm just pulling on a line, on a line, I'm just pulling on a line I'm just pulling on a line, on a line And sometimes it pulls on me Distributed in the US by WMG.

And read the patterns on my skin Let the fire somehow get in See my heart-line is intact So this is what I lacked Won't you come and read the future, turn it on Won't you tell me how I will not feel so lonely? Under the weight of this balmy night Tell me something so divine If there's future in these lines Bring into the light Distrubted in the US by WMG.

They're a beautiful example of early Israeli-Yemenite art. As soon as I saw them I knew I had to animate them. They had been in storage for years so it meant a great deal to bring them out and breathe life into them. This was an opportunity to not only contribute to his work, but also expose it to the audience it never had. When I heard "River's Edge" I was amazed. It's a great track and the music and lyrics corresponded to the plates perfectly. It was really exciting to see how the visuals complemented the song."

Great Lake Swimmers - I could be nothing

Bodies and minds (2005) It goes on forever along the shoreline It never will end on the shores of my mind I travel alongtil the sleep takes me in Where have I ended, where do I begin? Sand blankets are littered with stones whipped across Dead things in the water, forgotten or lost The branches have surfaced and now they are lean The trees have washed up here Stripped bare, and washed clean The waves kiss and gently caress on the shore Kissing and winking, and calling for more The waves like wagging tongues do adore And whisper there softly to the sand on the shore You would be nothing without me I could be nothing Said the waves to the sand I could be nothing without you Each ones shifts and weakens a little Neither aware just how much they are brittle Each one shifts and weakens a bit Allowing the other to live and exist O water and patience, pressure and time Cuts through the faces of rocks we have climbed The army of kisses, the lake never tires The kisses that can put out all of my fires You could be nothing without me I could be nothing Said the waves to the sand I could be nothing without you Without you, I would be nothing Without me, you could be nothing Said the waves to the sand I could be nothing without you

Great Lake Swimmers - "Pulling On A Line": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist

Great Lake Swimmers is a Canadian indie folk band which formed in 2003 in Wainfleet, Ontario, Canada. The band began with Tony Dekker (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Erik Arneson (banjo, guitar, harmonium), Bret Higgens (bass), Julie Fader (keyboards, vocals) and Greg Millson (drums). Julie Fader subsequently left, and Miranda Mulholland, on violin and backing vocals, joined. Fifty-five years ago, Marilyn Bell took a plunge and traversed Lake Ontario. Back then, being a Great Lake swimmer was a big deal; now, it's an astonishing physical feat taken for granted. It's a rapidly forgotten part of history, like a faded map or a tattered photograph. Or a lost channel. Tony Dekker's Great Lake Swimmers have spent the past seven years performing on stages around the world - though, like Bell, they should never be taken for granted. LOST CHANNELS, their fourth album set for release on March 31st, finds them once again recording at historic locations. This time in the Thousand Islands region of Ontario and New York state, telling tales of hidden histories, still "mining for light in the dark wells," still "tuned to an instrument of greater and unknown design." The instrument in question is the singular voice of Tony Dekker, a voice that summons ghosts from times past.

Great Lake Swimmers - New Wild Everywhere [Full Length Studio Performance] New Wild Everywhere - 04/03/2012 Filmed by Stephen Chung 'New Wild Everywhere' - 04/03/2012 Available at iTunes -www.itunes.com On Tour Now - CAN, USA, GBR, FRA www.facebook.com Could you tell us a little about the new album? It's the 5th GLS album, but our first proper studio album. We recorded it at a new studio in Toronto called Revolution Recording. It was a new challenge for us, because up until now we've gotten used to recording everything in fairly unconventional locations using relatively basic setups. Although, we also did three days of recording in a disused TTC subway station for this record, which yielded the song "The Great Exhale" and it ended up making it onto the album. But for the most part, we were working in a closed environment and could really focus on the songs. It was a really positive experience. The Great Lake Swimmers - Changing Colours

Artist: The Great Lake Swimmers Song: Changing Colours Album: ONGIARA Release Date: 11/2007 Official Website: www.greatlakeswimmers.com Lyrics You look at me with uncertainty, You look at me with urgency. You look at me with fear in your eyes like you're about to fall away. But don't be afraid to change your colours now. I've known you all Summer, and you rose above it all. I see you hesitate to fall now, But it's a pretty good view from down here, too. And when the wind takes you, it takes me, too. When you change colours, I change mine, too. Try not to think, and I will try to. When you let go, I will let go, too. I knew you when you were green and strong. You were like a feather on a wing, so long. You know I will miss you when you are gone, but don't be afraid if you just can't hang on. Cause when the wind takes you, it takes me, too. When you change colours, I change mine, too. Try not to think and I will try, too. And when you let go, I will let go, too. The cold air is pushing hard on you. I know what you're saying; I can feel it, too. You'll go through changes, and I'll go through them too. Don't be afraid now, don't be afraid. 'Cause when the wind takes you, it takes me, too. When you change colours, I change mine, too. Try not to think and I will try, too. And when you let go, I will let go, too

While they were breathing, they were shouting. She was concentrating on her breathing And didn't seem to mind, As I sat there on the couch, And tuned my guitar, And played a few chords Like roses growing their thorns. Getting ready to perform With bare feet and painted faces, They took their places, On shivering legs beneath colourful gowns. And out there on the wooden floors, The sweat from their pores. I'm writing a list Of songs I can sing by myself. Backstage with the modern dancers, Who feel it, like I do. Like I feel it, like I feel it. Backstage with the modern dancers, Getting ready to go on, She showed me her spin, With a beauty lit from within. And all of these things, I don't think they should be released

Great Lake Swimmers perform music from their new album 'New Wild Everywhere'. This is 'The Great Exhale'.

Catcher Song ~ Great Lake Swimmers -- Ongiara

Great Lake Swimmers is a Canadian band built around the melodic folk rock songs of singer-songwriter Tony Dekker. Originally from Wainfleet, Ontario, the band is currently based in Toronto. The current touring line-up includes Tony Dekker on lead vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica, Erik Arnesen on banjo, electric guitar and harmonium, Greg Millson on drums, Bret Higgins on upright bass and Miranda Mulholland on violin and backing vocals. "Music is interesting because it brings people together, and the more that I do this the more I realize the importance to that." ~ Tony Dekker, Great Lake Swimmers Catcher Song (by Tony Dekker) Well the ropes are taut, And the stories have all been caught. There's a frost-cover drawn on the shore, And the catcher still seems to want more. Through the reel and through the unreal, It's not what you see but what you feel, And what transpires here, And what I hear transpires. And it falls, falls, falls. And it falls, falls, falls. It rises up, it rises up. And it falls, falls, falls. I just want to break even. I just want to pass on through, Like a ghost through a household tune, Under light of the early dusk hues. Navigating and dealing extremes Is not what at first it seems; But I keep my ship tight and true, For the next time that I will see you. And it falls, falls, falls. And it falls, falls, falls. It rises up, it rises up.

City Sonic: Tony Dekker (Great Lake Swimmers) at Spadina Subway Station

Director: Anita Doron, 2009 Songwriter Tony Dekker was new in town and stuck commuting to a day job several subway stops from his home on the Bloor line a routine that seemed to keep him underground day in and day out. So the singer/guitarist, who records haunting folk music under the name Great Lake Swimmers, penned I Will Never the See the Sun, an ode to his daily ride along Spadina, St. George, Bay and Yonge. Soon after his music career took off, and Tony began using more rural environments all across Ontario for writing inspiration and recording spaces. Now, through the wonder of graphic novel-style animation, we follow him back beneath the streets at Spadina subway station to experience the urban sounds of the TTC that were his first connection to our citys sonics. Great Lake Swimmers - "Easy Come Easy Go": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist

New Wild Everywhere is the follow-up to Great Lake Swimmers' critically acclaimed, Polaris Music Prize shortlisted and Juno nominated 2009 album Lost Channels. Their fifth album in just under a decade, this new collection of 12 tracks reveals a depth and maturity previously only hinted at by lead singer and songwriter Tony Dekker. Featuring the touring band from Lost Channels (with long-time collaborator Erik Arnesen on banjo and guitar, along with new addition Miranda Mulholland contributing backing vocals and violin, Bret Higgins on upright bass, and Lost Channels drummer Greg Millson), New Wild Everywhere thematically picks up where the previous album left off, exploring transcendence in the natural world to describe the universal themes of love, mortality and escape. Throughout New Wild Everywhere, there is an elemental energy that moves from physical to spiritual and from the immediate present to an all-encompassing future, all represented by Dekker's ability to weave insightful lyrics into deceptively simple, hook-laden tunes. This is perhaps best exemplified by lead single "Easy Come Easy Go," the most upbeat and up-tempo song ever penned by Dekker, which explores finding a center to grasp amidst a chaotic and often temporary world. Dekker has spent the last decade entrancing listeners with his unforgettable voice and compelling songwriting. Great Lake Swimmers have long been a word-of-mouth favorite in their home country of Canada for whom critical mass was ...
