Goodfellas - Dinner in Prison
The year is 1973 and the goodfellas are part of the infamous 'mafia row', a group of fellow mobsters who lived comfortably like kings during their time in prison, dining on fine food and wine. Paul Cicero used a razor blade to slice garlic so thin it liquified in the pan with just a little olive oil. Vinnie made the sauce, adding veal, beef and pork for flavor, but was known for using too many onions. Johnny Dio cooked up great steaks in a frying pan. They received regular deliveries of fresh steaks and lobster which they kept on ice. Henry Hill smuggled in foods such as bread, peppers, onions, salami, prosciutto, cheese, scotch, and red/white wines.

Goodfellas
When Martin Scorsese, one of the world's most skillful and respected directors, reunited with two-time Oscar-winner Robert De Niro in GoodFellas, the result was one of the most powerful films of the year. Based on the true-life best seller Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi and backed by a dynamic pop/rock oldies soundtrack, critics and filmgoers alike declared GoodFellas great. It was named 1990's best film by the New York, Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics. And it earned six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Robert De Niro received wide recognition for his performance as veteran criminal Jimmy "The Gent" Conway. And as the volatile Tommy DeVito, Joe Pesci walked off with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco, Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino also turned in electrifying performances. You have to see it to believe it - then watch it again. GoodFellas explores the criminal life like no other movie. MPAA Rating: R (c) 1990 Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc.
Reenactment #17: Goodfellas
WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE. The Seventeenth of my Re-enactment Series. If there ever was a scene that is widely known in cinema, it's this one. In this scene from Martin Scorcese's Goodfellas, Joe Pesci's character is telling an amusing anecdote to his friends. Ray Liotta's character says he's funny, to which Pesci's character takes the wrong way... This is my first video in which I used my new GL-2, a very nice digital camera. The video quality's oustanding. This was hard because I had to overlap a lot of sounds, mainly me laughing as three other people. Happy New Year, you stutterin' pricks, you.

Goodfellas - 'Jimmy decides to whack his gang' shot
this is where jimmy (robert deniro) first encounters the thought of whacking his gang. and then, warming up to it instantly, he makes up his mind to bump off all his crew members and keep the money from the heist for himself. this is soon confirmed in liotta's monologue but this shot is pure cinema. and good music. apparently, when schoonmaker and scorsese were laying the track under this shot while editing, they discovered the sync between the riff and deniro's eyebrows. the rest, as they say, is in the video. :) the song is of course, "Sunshine of your love" by Cream.
