England vs Holland Wednesday, 29/02/2012 Kick off 20:00 GMT at Wembley Stadium International Match England - Cahill 85' Young 90' Holland - Robben 57',90' Huntelaar 59' An absorbing second-half of football at Wembley produced five goals, three of them for Holland, as Stuart Pearce's big night as England Caretaker Manager ended in a cruel, cruel defeat. A 90th-minute chip from Ashley Young appeared to have handed England a 2-2 draw, but former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben popped up just moments later to curl home his second goal of the night and give the 2010 World Cup runners-up a late victory. Robben fired Holland ahead in the 57th-minute, finishing of a clinical counter-attacking move, and substitute Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, on for Robin van Persie at half-time, thundered home a header just moments later to make it 2-0, but clashed heads with Chris Smalling in the process. Gary Cahill pulled a goal back for an improving England in the 85th minute when he calmly finished from inside the box and Young clipped the ball over Maarten Stekelenburg in the last minute to seemingly earn England a draw. But there was still enough time for Robben to inflict defeat on England with one final swing of his left foot, though the ball did appear to take a deflection on the way in. Neymar put in another thrilling performance for his club Santos as they secured a 3-0 lead over Guarani in a one-sided first leg of Brazil's Paulista Championship. The 20-year-old was a constant menace to the Guarani defence, scoring two goals and going on one early barnstorming run through the middle of the pitch in the first minute that was cynically ended by Ewerton Pascoa. Later, Ganso scored a spectacular goal from distance, before Neymar scored a straightforward first goal, and used his skills to drift away from a defender before slotting Santos's third.

A convincing 4-0 win over Belgium in Boro sees Under-21s back on track. England Under-21s collected a valuable three points against Belgium here in Middlesbrough to move themselves seven points clear at the top of their UEFA European Championship Qualifying group. Cheered on by nearly 23000 fans at the Riverside, England moved a step closer to the Finals in Israel next summer. A brace from Henri Lansbury, one from Steven Caulker and a late Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain penalty gave the Three Lions a comfortable win, which also put to bed Belgium's hopes of overhauling their lead in the table. With Stuart Pearce away with the Senior Team, Brian Eastick took the reins temporarily, but was very keen to ensure that things stayed the same. What he did want to see change, though, was England's creativity in the final third, after they dominated the game away in Belgium in November, but conceded two late goals to lose the match 2-1. Victory here would have given England a great chance to reach the Euro 2013 play-offs, with two games to play. And Lansbury gave them the perfect start, swinging in a deep cross-shot from the left flank. It looked promising as soon as it left his right boot and dipped perfectly under the bar to make it 1-0. He almost grabbed a second from twenty yards five minutes later, but Koen Casteels was at full stretch to push away for a corner. The visitors weren't keeping quiet, though, and through Thomas Meunier they had their first chance, forcing Jack Butland ...

Norwegian premiership on May 13th, 2012. While most of the planet were fixated on Manchester City's epic title win on Sunday, Norwegians were busy picking apart a freak incident during Brann's crucial win at Lillestrøm. First thing to point out was the significance of the contest: both Lillestrøm and Brann are already battling relegation at this early stage on their domestic campaign. Lillestrøm, no wins in their opening eight matches, sit second-bottom of the Tippeligaen, whilst Brann have fared almost as badly with just two wins and a draw in their first 8 matches. So what happened? After a thrilling first period, Brann were 3-2 up at the start of the second half. Then, in the 49th minute, the match was halted as a Lillestrøm player went down injured and the hosts kicked the ball into touch. Etiquette dictates that Brann should have returned the ball back to Lillestrøm once the play is resumed, and Erik Mjelde tried to do that. But he amazingly FAILED, scoring a freak 60-yard goal that incredibly bounced over keeper Stefan Magnusson and into the net. After scoring came the question of conscience. Should Brann allow Lillestrøm a goal to make amends for the freak golazo, or alternatively (considering the desperate need for points) should Magnusson's error be put down to his own foolishness and thus the match should carry on at 2-4? Best Goal Celebration ever!! - Fishing (Iceland football league)
If this video is anything to go by, goal celebrations have certainly come a long way since Roger Milla wiggled his hips down by the corner flag. No longer is a mere dance good enough for some players, as Icelandic top flight side Stjarnan proved in their game against Fylkir at the weekend. With the game seemingly heading for a 1-1 draw, the home side were awarded a penalty in the dying moments. Up stepped Halldór Orri Björnsson to score with a delightful chip over the keeper. While it was undeniably a fine strike, if some way off the best penalty ever. But the goal will be remembered for what followed - a beautifully choreographed manoeuvre in which Björnsson cast an imaginary fishing rod before 'reeling in' team-mate Daníel Laxdal. The 'fish' was then picked up by several members of the team and held aloft as if he were a trophy, while another team-mate 'took a photo' for posterity. Stjarnan held on to win the match 2-1.
