I also added a few orchestra strings to round up the sharp sound of the glasses This is one of the greatest hits in the classical world which was composed in the 1680's by Johann Pachelbel. Pachelbel's Canon, also known as Canon in D major (PWC 37, T. 337, PC 358), is the most famous piece of music by German Baroque composer Johann Pachelbel. It was originally scored for three violins and basso continuo and paired with a gigue in the same key. Like most other works by Pachelbel and other pre-1700 composers, the Canon remained forgotten for centuries and was rediscovered only in the 20th century. Several decades after it was first published in 1919, the piece became extremely popular, and today it is frequently played at weddings and included on classical music compilations, along with other famous Baroque pieces such as Air on the G String by Johann Sebastian Bach. Working Model of Stephenson's STEAM ENGINE made of GLASS ! Rare!
This Model of Stephenson's Steam Engine was made in 2008 by master glassblower Michal Zahradník. Highlights: * The crankshaft is glass. The piston is glass. The counterweight that makes the wheel spin evenly is glass. Imagine that everything is made out of glass. * There are no sealants used. All is accomplished by a perfectly snug fit. The gap between the piston and its compartment is so small, that the water that condensates from the steam seals it shut! * Notice the elaborate excessive steam exhaust system next to the piston. * The piston is the most arduous part to make due to to extreme level of precision needed. Its parts have to be so accurate that no machinery is of use here. The piston and its cylinder must be hand sanded to perfection, and they are very likely to crack in the process! On average, three out of four crack.

Ave Maria by Franz Schubert played on glass harp by Robert Tiso. This song is No. 6 of Schubert's Liederzyklus vom Fräulein vom See (Song-cycle from 'The Lady of the Lake'), composed in 1825. It is listed as Ellens Gesang. III. Hymne an die Jungfrau (Ellen's song, III. Hymn to the Virgin), and it is often referred to as Elles dritter Gesang (Ellen's third song). The original source is The Lady of the Lake by Sir Walter Scott ( 1771-1832), in the German translation (published 1819) by Adam Storck (1780-1822) in 1819 (the name Adam Storck is a pseudonym for Philipp Adam). The seven songs that form the song-cycle were published in 1826 as Schubert's Op. 52, with both Storck's German texts and the original English texts by Scott, under the title Sieben Gesange aus Walter Scotts Fräulein vom See (Seven Songs from Walter Scott's Lady of the Lake). Often sung in Latin with an adaptation of the Roman Catholic Ave Maria text, this song is often referred to as "Schubert's Ave Maria", popular as both a wedding song and a funeral song.
Dream Theater - The Glass Prison
"The Glass Prison" is a song by the progressive metal band Dream Theater. Arguably one of the most aggressive and heavy tracks the band has ever released, it is 13:52 in length and is the first track on the Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence album. "The Glass Prison" alludes to the first three of the well known 12 steps of alcoholism rehabilitation created by Bill Wilson. The lyrics were written by the band's drummer, Mike Portnoy, about his experience with alcoholism. This track was often used to begin concerts since the World Tourbulence tour. Four sequels to "The Glass Prison", entitled "This Dying Soul", "The Root of All Evil", "Repentance" and "The Shattered Fortress", appeared on subsequent albums Train of Thought, Octavarium, Systematic Chaos and Black Clouds & Silver Linings, respectively. The follow-up songs reference the previous ones and each other, both lyrically and musically, and so may be considered a "suite", in the classical sense. The suite as a whole, which is generally referred to as the Twelve-step Suite, can be considered to be a sequel of sorts to "The Mirror" (found on 1994's Awake), as they reflect numerous thematic and lyrical ideas found in that song, but "The Mirror" is not considered a component of the suite. Though it is clear that Mike has stated that the songs reflect his alcoholism, it is unclear how deep it ran with him. We make make our own crude homemade version with some common household ingredients.
