My housemate Steph getting a little transformation. She is from the UK, and we were having a bit of wine, and she asked me to make her over---and to be as creative as I could. So I wanted to make something to do with her tattoo---I made the vines look vintage, like old drawings of vines I once saw as a kid of gilded pages of a book..... Anyhow, again, this is NOT a tutorial, really you can recreate this look if you just pay attention---I used green eyeshadows on the eyes, and black liquid line and fine brushes to curl the vines. Gourd Spirit Dancing - First Friday at the Slate Valley Museum with Serena Kovalosky
Contemporary Gourd Artwork at the Slate Valley Museum GRANVILLE, NY The Slate Valley Museum will host an exhibition of contemporary gourd artwork by sculptor Serena Kovalosky, with an opening reception on July 1 from 7pm-9pm in conjunction with the First Friday Artwalk. Kovalosky uses dried gourds as her primary medium, creating sculptures and vessels ranging in size from 5 inches in diameter to almost 3 feet in height. Intricate carving, meticulous woodburned designs and gilding with gold alloy leaf bring each piece into the realm of fine art. "I am inspired by ancient vessels and the spiritual implications behind tribal art," says Kovalosky. "Gourds have a deep connection to these art forms, and my work is a bridge from the tribal to the contemporary realm." Kovalosky invites the viewer into a world where nature is sacred -- a world of Dancing Vines, Laughing Gourds, and Ancient Wisdom. Kovalosky's work also reveals the realities of the physical world. Gourds are carved with ragged edges to reflect the natural disintegration of trees in the woods or holes burrowed by animals. Darkened interiors symbolize a natural aging process, while other sculptures glow from their gilded interiors drawing in the viewer to discover the "gold" that lies hidden inside every living thing. That, too, will eventually age over time as metal alloys are purposely used for their antiquing properties as they mature. Clock «Synagogue» (2012) 27,0 x 23,0 x 13.5 сm silver, granite, turquoise, glass, gilding, engraving, enamel A dome with two minarets is one of the dominating parts of this clock. The Star of David crowns this dome. The dome drum is decorated with symbolic windows in a shape of vines as well as with engraved inscription in Hebrew «Good Lord, do not forget about me». The front of the synagogue roof is decorated with a silver Torah in an original ark. The inscription «God is Love» is engraved on unfolded pages of the Torah. The clock itself is placed in the centre of the synagogue body. The clock dial is decorated with peaces of turquoise. A little fence with a gate shaped as a menorah is assembled under the clock dial. When this gate is opened the inscription «Time is Money» (engraved in Hebrew on the little plate) can be seen. Four windows are placed on three walls of the synagogue body. The windows on the side walls are decorated with enamels of Star of David. A plate of polished black granite serves as a base for the whole clock structure.
These Troubled Times - Multitrack Original
This is, basically, a video as well as a music experiment. First, I was trying to get more pixels out of my standard definition camera by capturing two videos, side by side, and then compositing them into one wide screen output. I got a third more pixels without cropping or blowing up SD video. Second, I greenscreened out my black (real) backdrop and replaced it with a CGI black backdrop for a uniform background that makes the foreground colors pop. Dark materials in the shots become transparent for some interesting effects when composited against the contents of another shot. Third, I recorded an audio outline of the tune first then replaced each part with a live performance. Kind of a karaoke bass, then karaoke rhythm guitar and so on until I replaced the prerecorded tune for an all-me-live-band. (Click on CC, Closed Captions, to see the lyrics)

thefilmarchive.org Buddhism in Burma (also known as Myanmar) is predominantly of the Theravada tradition, practised by 89% of the country's population It is the most religious Buddhist country in terms of the proportion of monks in the population and proportion of income spent on religion. Adherents are most likely found among the dominant ethnic Bamar (or Burmans), Shan, Rakhine (Arakanese), Mon, Karen, and Chinese who are well integrated into Burmese society. Monks, collectively known as the Sangha, are venerated members of Burmese society. Among many ethnic groups in Myanmar, including the Bamar and Shan, Theravada Buddhism is practiced in conjunction with nat worship, which involves the placation of spirits who can intercede in worldly affairs. With regard to "salvation" in the Buddhist sense, there are three primary paths in Burmese Buddhism: merit-making, vipassana (insight meditation), and the weizza path (an esoteric form of Buddhism that involves the occult). Merit-making is the most common path undertaken by Burmese Buddhists. This path involves the observance of the Five Precepts and accumulation of good merit through charity and good deeds (dana) in order to obtain a favorable rebirth. The vipassana path, which has gained ground since the early 1900s, is a form of insight meditation believed to lead to enlightenment. The third and least common route, the weizza path, is an esoteric system of occult practices (such as recitation of spells, samatha meditation ...
