Never Shout Never - This S**t Getz Old (Lyric Video)
© 2010 WMG This S**t Getz Old (Lyric Video) Lyrics: If you're looking for me I'd suggest you look in the last place That you will ever find me 'Cause I'm going out With all my friends tonight, for once And if you can do one whole thing Then I'd suggest you go out too And smile up a storm 'Cause we're all as sad As you think that you are So just smile See I've been Looking up, looking down, looking side to side Wondering why this world is the way that it is And why my momma cries Every night when I'm trying to rest my head On the floor Half-stoned thinking "damn, this s**t gets old" [Ba-da-da-da-da-da-da...] So if you have a problem I'd thoroughly suggest you look within Before you go and blame someone Whose been blaming someone else Their whole life And I know we all got problems But we got a bigger problem We've been falling into pieces And our power hides the knowledge We've been working our whole damn lives; But for what? For them See I've been Looking up, looking down, looking side to side Wondering why this world is the way that it is And why my momma cries Every night when I'm trying to rest my head On the floor Half-stoned thinking "damn, this s**t gets old" [Ba-da-da-da-da-da-da...]
Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd - One Note Samba
Guitarist Charlie Byrd was invited to travel and play in Brazil during a cultural goodwill tour sponsored by the Kennedy administration in 1961. He was completely enamoured by the music, and when he returned, he headed straight for the recording studio to make the now classic Jazz Samba. Collaborating with Stan Getz on tenor sax and backed by a band that included Gene Byrd (bass, guitar), Keter Betts (bass), and Buddy Deppenschmidt and Bill Reichenbach (drums), Byrd forged a new and brilliant sound. American record companies were to churn out hundreds of watered bossa-pop albums that have since given the style its lounge-addled image, but this album stands as a tribute to the vitality and adaptability of jazz. --Louis Gibson

Jazz Samba was the first major bossa-nova album on the American jazz scene. It was the real start of the bossa-nova excitement in America, which peaked in the mid-1960s. Though Stan Getz was the featured star of the album, it was very strongly inspired and designed by the guitarist Charlie Byrd. They were joined by two bassists (Keter Betts and Charlie's brother Gene (Joe) Byrd), and two drummers (Buddy Deppenschmidt and Bill Reichenbach) for the recording at All Souls Church, Unitarian in Washington, DC on 13 February 1962, and it was released on 20 April 1962 as Verve LP V6-8432. Although it is often described as music by Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, only two of the seven tracks ...

Jazz saxophonist Stan Getz recorded this with Astrud and Joao Gilberto and it reached #5 on the pop charts in June of 1964.
Stan Getz-Autumn Leaves

Stan Getz & Kenny Barron [First Song]
Stan Getz is one of the most superior of the 20th century's great saxophonists. He strove throughout his artistic work towards a perfection in simplicity, which he did not think existed anywhere before. His sound is the epitome of cool, and everything he has done is characterized by complete control over - and consistent with - the instrument. 3 months before his death in 1991 he delivered one of his greatest performances ever at the Jazz Cafe Montmartre in Copenhagen. It was the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6 March 1991, the Copenhagen Getz recorded his swansong with pianist Kenny Barron. I was there! A fantastic music experience, which I remember with joy and great sadness!
