The photographs of the victims from the Cambodian genocide are what really haunt you. There's a huge discussion of this topic on my blog, www.vagabonding.com Here's an entry I wrote about this: Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge, and Genocide in Cambodia During their three-year, eight-month, and 21-day rule of Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge committed some of the most heinous crimes in modern history: - The entire population of Cambodia's urban areas was evacuated from their homes and forced to march into rural areas to work the fields. - Every man, woman, and child was forced into slave labor for 12-15 hours each day. - An estimated two million people (21% of Cambodia's population) lost their lives. Many of these victims were brutally executed; many more died of starvation, exhaustion, and disease. That these crimes were committed so recently (1975-1978) makes them all the more sickening. The country's scars are still plainly visible: - The population is suspiciously youthful (50% is under the age of 15). - The economy is in shambles. This is partially thanks to the Khmer Rouge's execution of the upper and educated classes. The fact that they destroyed most of the vehicles and machines in the cities can't have helped. - New human remains turn up around the exhumed mass graves of the Killing Fields of Cheoung Ek on a daily basis. Thirty years before Hitler came to power in Germany, and about forty years before Raphael Lemkin authored the word genocide, there had already been one at the hands of Germany. This genocide happened outside of Europe though. This genocide took place in AFRIKA! Like with all things related to Afrika, this is never mentioned in our schools, which keeps us ignorant about our own histories. In the early 1900s, Germany invaded Namibia. This documentary from the BBC outlines the events that lead up to the deaths of 3/4 of the population of Herero people, and 1/2 of the population of Nama people.

France outlaws Armenian Genocide denial
Turkey has vowed to retaliate, after the French Senate approved a bill making it a crime to deny that the massacre of Armenians by the Ottoman empire in 1915, was genocide. Ankara has already suspended military, political and economic ties with Paris.Both houses of the French parliament have passed the bill, which still has to be signed off by President Sarkozy in order to become law. The proposal is set to make the denial of genocide and war crimes, recognized by French law, punishable by up to a year in prison. Turkey denies the massacre, that's considered by many to be the 20th century's first genocide. The executive director of the Armenian National Committee of America, Aram Hamparian, says the measure will force Ankara to admit to the atrocities. A reporter from the BBC, Fergal Keane, as well as his Producer, James Miller, engage in a propagandistic sham of a news report, the purpose of which is to affirm the tragic events in WWI Ottoman Turkey as a genocide. They use the most corrupt facts and close their eyes to everything else, outrageously betraying their role as objective journalists. As usual, they totally ignore the vast mass-killing crimes of the Armenians, and any counter-evidence they come across, no matter how impartial or logical, is made sure to be to labeled as denial. It is not the first time a news organization, even a generally careful one as the BBC, has engaged in such a destructive form of prejudice. What they have done would have emerged as less harmful if only their propaganda would have been lost to the airwaves. But of course, the young Armenians of YouTube, so absolutely brainwashed and without the capacity to think independently, are quick to regard anything that deals with their beloved obsession as an affirmation, regardless of the truthfulness of the claims. This BBC production in particular has been repeated some half a dozen times on YouTube. It is time to examine the validity of the claims of "The Betrayed." The examination here is not based upon the shortened versions offered on YouTube, but on the full hour-long program that the BBC has made available on the Internet. French senate passes 'Armenian genocide' bill
The French Parliament has passed a bill that makes it a crime to deny the mass killings of Armenians during the Ottoman empire was genocide. Turkey has called the move "irresponsible" and has threatened to permanantly cut ties with France.

Darfur Region - Sudan Genocide on border of Chad and the doorway to the Arab worlds. The Darfur conflict is a complex crisis in the Darfur region of western Sudan. One side of the armed conflict is composed mainly of the Sudanese military and the Janjaweed, a militia group recruited mostly from the tribes of the northern Rizeigat, camel-herding nomads. The other side comprises a variety of rebel groups, notably the Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice and Equality Movement, recruited primarily from the land-tilling Fur, Zaghawa, and Massaleit ethnic groups. The Sudanese government, while publicly denying that it supports the Janjaweed, has provided money and assistance to the militia and has participated in joint attacks targeting the tribes from which the rebels draw support.The conflict began in February 2003. Unlike in the Second Sudanese Civil War, which was fought between the primarily Muslim north and Christian and Animist south, almost all of the combatants and victims in Darfur are Muslim. The government and Janjaweed attacks upon the non-Baggara civilian populace have resulted in a major humanitarian crisis. There are many casualty estimates, most concurring on a range within the hundreds of thousands. The United Nations (UN) estimates that the conflict has left as many as 450000 dead from violence and disease. Most NGOs (non-governmental organizations) use 200000 to over 400000, a figure from the Coalition for International Justice that has since been cited ...
