Genetics and Intelligence
Google Tech Talk (more info below) August 18, 2011 Presented by Steve Hsu. How do genes affect cognitive ability? I begin with a brief review of psychometric measurements of intelligence, introducing the idea of a "general factor" or IQ score. The main results concern the stability, validity (predictive power), and heritability of adult IQ. Next, I discuss ongoing Genome Wide Association Studies which investigate the genetic basis of intelligence. Due mainly to the rapidly decreasing cost of sequencing, it is likely that within the next 5-10 years we will identify genes which account for a significant fraction of total IQ variation. We are currently seeking volunteers for a study of high cognitive ability. Participants will receive free genotyping. Speaker Info: Steve Hsu is Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Oregon and Director of its Institute of Theoretical Science. Educated at Caltech and Berkeley, he was a Harvard Junior Fellow and Assistant Professor at Yale before moving to Oregon in 1998. He is also the founder of two Silicon Valley software startups in the area of information security. He serves as Scientific Advisor to the Cognitive Genomics Lab of BGI (formerly the Beijing Genomics Institute), one of the leading genomics research centers in the world.

He differentiates between mitosis and meiosis. He also explains how Mendelian genetics differs from the current understanding of genetics. He ends with a brief description of gene regulation.
Transhumanism - Genetic Manipulation - Tom Horn + Steve Quayle
In recent years, astonishing technological developments have pushed the frontiers of humanity toward far-reaching morphological transformation that promises in the very near future to redefine what it means to be human. An international, intellectual, and fast-growing cultural movement known as transhumanism intends the use of genetics, robotics, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology (Grin technologies) as tools that will radically redesign our minds, our memories, our physiology, our offspring, and even perhaps—as Joel Garreau in his best-selling book, Radical Evolution, claims—our very souls. The technological, cultural, and metaphysical shift now underway unapologetically forecasts a future dominated by this new species of unrecognizably superior humans, and applications under study now to make this dream a reality are being funded by thousands of government and private research facilities around the world. As the reader will learn, this includes, among other things, rewriting human dna and combining humans with beasts, a fact that some university studies and transhumanists believe will not only alter our bodies and souls but ultimately could open a door to contact with unseen intelligence. www.ForbiddenGate.com http www.RaidersNewsNetwork.com http

A Lesson in Pony Genetics
EDIT: After some thoughts and reading a few comments, there is possibly a lot more that could go into this video regarding genetics and Alicorns, but like I said, I don't want to delve too much into it at this time, maybe later after Season 2 is over and we have more information. As someone said: "If you have a pegasus who carries horn genes and a unicorn who carries wing genes, like so: hhWw x Hhww It would be possible for them to have alicorn sons, right? I mean, without the alicorn mother rule (maybe the guy would have the genes but 'alicorniness' wouldn't manifest, or maybe he'd die at birth, only alicorns being able to 'mother' an alicorn).." Yeah, that does seem like it would work. In fact, it would produce a ratio that would actually be higher for alicorns. I'm guessing that there is more to alicorns besides just these two genes though, and that's why we haven't seen them. The ratio that would produce would actually be evenly spread... 4:4:4:4 A short video explaining how I think pony genetics work for wings and horns since we now know they can breed and produce fertile offspring. (Crap, I just realized that I mispelled alicorn in the second slide that has it... oh well, it's not there long.) Alien Genetic Takeover: The End of Humanity
COMMENT FROM ALEX JONES: Yes the headline says alien takeover, because it is is alien to cross plant, animal, insect and microbial species... and this ill mixing will cause disastrous results. In this powerful video, Alex breaks down how the global takeover might as well be coming from a hostile alien species-- as depicted in John Carpenter's 1982 film 'The Thing'. In fact, such an invader would be hard pressed to wreak more destruction upon the earth's biosphere. In the film, and its other versions from 1951 and 2011, an uncovered species takes over its host's DNA while outwardly imitating it, threatening to infect the entire planet in a short span. In the real world, aggressive genetically-modified species are destroying naturally-occurring species while provably causing harm to those who consume GMO foods-- including widespread infertility, cancer and mutations, as demonstrated repeatedly in lab animal studies. In fact, the real dangers of GMOs, vaccines (loaded with super-viruses, dangerous chemical compounds and other special ingredients) and much more have only begun to unleash their long-term multi-generational harm. The frank reality is that what humanity faces is far worse than Alex could possibly convey in this short presentation. Complex and controversial emerging legal rulings over gene patents and intellectual property are clearly paving the way for the globalists' 'Thing' mechanism to dominate agriculture, monopolize medicine and profit on mass-death and the ...
Genetic Armageddon: Humanity's Greatest Threat
www.infowars.com A Secret That Can Destroy Us... Pandora's Box has surely been opened. A dangerous genetic experiment has come out of the shadows, and the human-animal hybrids, chimeras and other transgenic clones has produced now threaten to endanger and irrevocably alter life as we know it. The controllers of elite-funded science and R&D have wantonly tampered with the genetic code of the planet, ignoring the rather obvious dangers posed by cross-species experimentation and flagrantly jeopardizing the earth's delicately-balanced biodiversity. Fresh revelations about a "secret lab" program in the UK admittedly ongoing 'for the last three years' developing such bestial-hybrids only serves to reinforce our available data concerning the fact that genetically-modified laboratory creations are fast spinning out of control. Now the biotech industry has unleashed these Franken-breeds into the world under the auspices of monopolizing some of the most important and dangerous developments in Agra, Pharma and Medical research for the 21st Century. Their GM "solutions" to life's challenges promise lucrative returns, as we reported earlier today, due to their patented gene-expressions. Transgenic clones, created by deleting-and-replacing DNA sequences to create a cross-species hybrid (xenotransplantation) that is then grown in a host egg, are becoming a pet-project of corporate science that offers 'Pharming's' promise of replacement organs for ailing humans, industrial and ...

Health@Google: "The Genetic Revolution and Predictive Medicine" with Dr. Brandon Colby
We stand at the forefront of the Genetic Revolution, which now allows us to personalize products and services to our genes. While the Information Age created unprecedented instantaneous worldwide access to our civilization's information, the Genetic Revolution provides a way for us to personalize that information to each individual. Because of this, information is able to evolve from being generalized to being all about one single person: YOU. Brandon Colby, MD, is a world leader in the fields of genetic testing and predictive medicine. Dr. Colby will discuss the current and near-future technologies that are fueling the genetic revolution as well as the difference between genetic testing and genetic analysis. Specific focus will be applied to how genetic information is now being used by healthcare professionals to predict and prevent a large number of diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and even Alzheimer's. The talk will also include specific ways in-which you and your family can use the information contained within your genes to protect your health and wellness not in ten or five years, but today.

Genetic Drift
003 - Genetic Drift Paul Andersen describes genetic drift as a mechanism for evolutionary change. A population genetics simulator is used to show the importance of large population size in neutralizing random change. The near extinction of the northern elephant is used as an example of the bottleneck effect. The high incidence of total colorblindness due to a typhoon that hit the small island of Pingelap is also included.
Experiential Genetic and Epigenetic Effects on Neurocognitive Development
For several years we have employed psychophysics, electrophysiological (ERP) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques to study the development and plasticity of the human brain. We have studied deaf and blind individuals, people who learned their first or second spoken or signed language at different ages, and children of different ages and of different cognitive capabilities. Over the course of this research, we observed that different brain systems and related functions display markedly different degrees, or 'profiles', of neuroplasticity. Some systems appear quite strongly determined and are not altered even when experience has been very different. Other systems are highly modifiable by experience and are dependent on experience but only during particular time periods ("sensitive periods").
