Frightened Rabbit - Fast Blood
Indie Rock All song rights go to Frightened Rabbit and their label...
Frightened Rabbit: "The Modern Leper"
This opening track from The Midnight Organ is one of the two Frightened Rabbit songs that are really sticking with me (the other being "Keep Yourself Warm") and hearing it live really added a lot to it. If you find yourself enjoying these guys I think it might actually be worth checking out their new live record, Liver! Lung! FR!, over the studio version, at least as a first take.
Frightened Rabbit: "Fast Blood"
Frightened Rabbit are the latest in a series of blog bands to visit Madison this year -- we've had Ra Ra Riot, the Virgins, Vampire Weekend, Margot & the Nuclear So and So's, White Rabbits and the Whigs already. These guys are a bit different in that they are Scottish rather than American, but they largely fit with the blog band mode. I'd been led to believe that their new album, The Midnight Organ, was somewhat more subdued than their live show, and it's true. Their set reminded me a bit of what I expected from their fellow countrymen of The Twilight Sad when they put the Terrace to sleep last summer -- pushy but not brash, and with a touch of fun in the dour.

Episode #5.2: Frightened Rabbit - "Swim Until You Can't See Land"
Something old, something new, something borrowed... well, okay, we didn't get anything blue, but in our latest session with the utterly marvellous Scott from Frightened Rabbit, we got the classic 'Be Less Rude', a brand new track 'Swim Until You Can't See Land' and a cover of Neutral Milk Hotel's 'Song Against Sex'. Not a lot's better than that, if we're honest. We sat Scott down in Edinburgh's Dunbar Close, a little-known public space off the Royal Mile laid out in the style of a 17th-Century garden. Which, as far as we can tell, means 'gravelly floors, uncomfortable stone benches, a madman with a toy flute, and some hungry looking plants, all set underneath a damn helicopter festival'. Still, none other than Robbie Burns used to go drinking and whoring at Mrs.Love's Oyster Bar which used to be nearby back then, so who are we to complain? The second-track filling in our three-track Frightened Rabbit session sandwich sent us a bit giddy a brand new track (unreleased, and so-far virtually unheard outside of a couple of low-key gigs) called Swim Until You Cant See Land. Taken from the recording sessions currently going on in deepest, darkest Fife, its one of the possibles for the new album, due next year. We like, lots even if he almost gets drowned out by the bloody helicopters. See more at offthebeatentracks.tv More about Frightened Rabbit at myspace.com/frightenedrabbit
Frightened Rabbit - The Wrestle (with lyrics)
A very sexy song. 'The Wrestle' performed by Scottish alternative rock band Frightened Rabbit. Bone chilling stuff. Taken from their BRILLIANT third album, 'THE WINTER OF MIXED DRINKS' (2010). LISTEN LOUD! Scott Hutchison - vocals & rhythm guitar. Billy Kennedy - lead guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals. Grant Hutchison - drums, percussion, vocals. Andy Monaghan - additional guitar, keyboards, vocals. Additional musicians Volker Bertelmann - string arrangement. Insa Schirmer - cello. Sabine Baron - violin. Robert McCrorie - saxophone. Ben Hillman - trumpet. Suzie Bowman - trombone. (Obviously not all in this track, but on the album). The crumpled ocean is no boat trip, dark water stole my clothing. A shape stirs beneath me, a pulse pounds along bloodstreams, the first bite marks the beginning of the clothless wrestle with the clothless animal. Animal Bare those teeth to me please, man eater you can see all of me, naked with fear This is the test I left land for, to grip flesh and pull muscle in the vice clinch of the struggle I can't give in to the weight of the clothless wrestle with the clothless animal. My enemy please stay close to me, I've no breath left, you cold breath thief The last gasp from a burst lung, the fight fathers a weak son the last taste of salt in my mouth my skin breaks, with no sound I'm torn limb from limb there is bone, there is gristle and spit in the clothless wrestle with the clothless animal. Animal

It's Christmas So We'll Stop- Frightened Rabbit (audio only)
Audio Only. Released December 17, 2007 on Fat Cat Records. Scott Hutchison notes: It's Christmas is about people deciding to be pleasant to one another for about a day, regardless of whether or not they actually get along the rest of the year. There's the same fallout after christmas as perhaps a night out where you end up in someone else's bed - the next day, after the drink has worn off and the warm lights are turned off, everything's just as shit as it was the day before and that feeling of comfort disappears. I feel like i have a similar relationship with christmas as i do with booze. Each make me feel nice in a fairly false way, and they are really the only two things i actually spend money on, aside from food. Its also about that total indulgence period, which always comes with the promise that you'll eat less, drink less and spend less really, really soon... always tomorrow. I feel its maybe healthier to live a little more consistently (not that i do), but often humans need excuses to be nice and giving and loving to one another, and Christmas is one of those times, for better or worse. Enjoy
