JUAN DIEGO FLOREZ - BE MY LOVE - THEATRE DES CHAMPS ELYSEES PARIS 5th MAY 2012 Conductor : Alessandro Vitiello - Wow! this concert was fabulous, I can say it, I was in the concert hall, close to the scene. Juan Diego Florez was amazing, charming, his voice was beautiful and the orchestra was excellent. The song "Be My Love" delightful. A thunder of applause, standing ovations, and then the famous "Ah mes amis" from "La fille du régiment". We were all standing to applaud, it was perfect. HE was absolutely perfect. At the end, I offered him a bunch of flowers (oops! I couldn't help). Señor FLOREZ, I hope you felt how much the French public loves you. Wow ! ce concert était fabuleux, je peux le dire, j'étais dans la salle, tout près de la scène . Juan Diego Florez était époustouflant, charmant, sa voix était magnifique et l'orchestre était excellent. La chanson "Be my love" était un délice. Un tonnerre d'applaudissements, des ovations à n'en plus finir, et puis le célèbre "ah mes amis" de "La fille du régiment". Nous étions tous debout pour l'applaudir, c'était parfait. IL a été absolument parfait. A la fin, je lui ai offert un bouquet de fleurs (oups! je n'ai pas pu m'en empêcher) Señor FLOREZ, j'espère que vous avez senti combien le public français vous aime.

L'amo tanto, e m'è si cara," I honestly have to say Gustavo Dudamel is a failure as an opera conductor. He really sucks. He doesn't care about the singer, he just gets into his world wiht those unnecessary, stupid and silly movements which get me sick. This is bel canto not Mahler!!! As for the orchestra it was completely unnecessary to put almost 180 musicians onstage having in mind that the rossinian, donizettian even bellinian orchestration needs a pure and fluid sound instead of a heavy orchestration which in this case screwed all the bel canto passages up.
