Pakistan flood victims still in camps
Nearly six month since devastating floods destroyed tens of thousands of acres of land in Pakistan's Sindh area, thousands of farmers have been unable to return to their lands and are still living in relief camps. Millions of dollars in aid was pledged to help, but a UK-based charity organisation said it was not satisfied with relief efforts made by the international community. Summer floods strike eastern Australia

Two of the worst-hit towns are Mitchell in Queensland and Moree in New South Wales. At least 10000 people have been left stranded by the flooding. In New South Wales officials believe the worst is over for those living in the rural areas around the Mehi river.

Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes as swollen rivers and flood-control dykes burst. There are now fears that flooding will spread to the capital, Bangkok. Marine life is suffering in the Gulf of Thailand, where the Chao Phraya River, which runs through the capital Bangkok, meets the sea. The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee poured water on top of the already soaked US northeast on Thursday, closing hundreds of roads and forcing evacuation orders for more than 100000 people from the Susquehanna River's worst flooding in nearly 40 years. In Binghamton, New York, a city of about 45000, the Susquehanna coursed into the streets and climbed halfway up lampposts and storage sheds. Mayor Matt Ryan said it was the city's worst flooding since the flood walls were built in the 1930s and `40s. Buses and then boats were used to evacuate residents, and National Guard troops were on hand to help. A large evacuation shelter was opened on the campus of Binghamton University. It is able to house more than 1000 evacuees, and they have been steadily filing in since Wednesday. Up to nine inches of rain fell in Binghamton and areas of Pennsylvania. Rivers and streams passed or approached flood stage from Maryland to Massachusetts, and experts said more flooding was coming. Downstream, up to 75000 residents were ordered to leave in and around Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where the levee system is just high enough to hold back the if it crests at the predicted level. The answer to why salmon crossed the road in Washington state Tuesday morning may be simple: because of major flooding on the roadway, caused by heavy rain and seemingly confusing the heck out of the migrating fish (see video). 2011 Flood Bugnado Bugnadoes
A few stills here: www.extremeinstability.com Due in large part to all the flood waters along the Missouri River we have a lot more bugs around. The tree tops, ditches and cornfields now "smoke" with bugs at dusk. One night I found this crazy display of bugnadoes, vortex formations of bugs. The first night I saw them swarms of dragonflies were around, flying through them eating them. Anyway, I was going to wait to make a video until I went over more times and maybe found even better formations and shows of them. I'm finding it rather hard to top this one particular night. It's easy to find them but hard to find such huge numbers, which made seeing things a lot easier. It's also a small window of time after sunset when they are easiest to see. So the trick is finding where the larger numbers are that particular night and finding an angle and shooting them, before it is simply too dark, which comes fast. While mosquitoes were nailing me at the time, I don't think these are mosquito swarms. Something else, I think anyway.

Philippines to investigate flood disaster
Officials in the Philippines say they have lost count of the number of missing people after flash floods in two southern cities. Almost 300.000 people have been displaced and at least a thousand are known to have died. The Red Cross is appealing for $2.8m dollars to help their humanitarian efforts. Pakistan flood death toll over 800, state of emergency declared
At least 800 people have been killed in Pakistan over the last three days during floods triggered by monsoon rains. Thousands were left stranded as emergency services struggled to reach remote villages. Nearly 400 thousand have been displaced so far and the provincial government has declared a state of emergency. The torrential rains are expected to continue over the weekend.
