SHARON SHANNON, CAVAN FLEADH CHEOIL 2010, JAMES BROWN'S MARCH
Blisteringly hot violin solo by Dezi Donnelly, when the brilliant Sharon Shannon and her band headlined the annual Fleadh Cheoil Irish music festival (this year based in Cavan) on Sunday August 21st, 2010. Sharon makes virtuosity look so easy, delivering music with the same warmth as her lovely smile. The town was full to capacity, when Sharon performed, with many people listening from a distance, down 'packed' streets. There were so many people in the town (organizers mentioned 85000), that the show ended early to ensure safety of music fans. Here, Sharon performs the wonderful 'James Brown's March' by Manchester musician Mike Mc Goldrick, followed by a reel by Charlie Lennon. From Sharon's website: Sharon has recorded and toured with....Bono, Adam Clayton, Sinead O'Connor, Jackson Browne, John Prine, Steve Earl, Mark Knopfler, The Chieftains, The Waterboys, Willie Nelson, Nigel Kennedy, Alison Krauss, and Shane Mc Gowan... Featuring: Sharon Shannon: Accordion Dezi Donnelly: violin Jack Maher: electric guitar Jim Murray: acoustic guitar Related websites: www.sharonshannon.com www.myspace.com en.wikipedia.org www.dezidonnelly.com www.myspace.com www.fleadh2010.ie en.wikipedia.org comhaltas.ie From Wikipedia: The Fleadh Cheoil (Festival of Music) is an Irish music competition run by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ). CACERES IRISH FLEADH 2010 . NUA
NUA. CESAR PASTOR, EOAGHAN NEFF, Y JESUS ENRIQUE CUADRADO(CHUCHI) There are some intersting collaborations going on in the Celtic world that I've been coming across recently and this one really caught my attention. Dúo Nua are Eoghan Neff and César Pastor who are working on a new album but were happy to send me some demo material for airplay. Dúo Nua were formed in Dublin at the end of last year following a chance meeting at a session in the Conradh na Gaeilage bar. Irish Fiddle-player, Eoghan Neff, and Spanish uilleann-piper, César Pastor, found themselves performing a new kind of duet of Irish traditional music. The following day they brought their concept to the basement of the Irish Traditional Music Archive where Eoghan works as an archivist. Following Eoghan's move to Spain they worked on a demo of their ideas. Having listened to their demo I can honestly say that I have never heard anything like this before. These two know all about taking risks and how far they can take it. The mastery of fiddle and pipe is phenomenal but what is more exciting is the creation of such a new and inspiring sound. I have read that Eoghan is not your typical Irish Fiddle player, and now I can see why. He takes the fiddle to its limits making it an exquisite listening experience. Likewise, César understands and communicates with that ability to push music beyond it's tamed limits into an altogether new form of expression. There is no discounting the passion these two have for both their ...

IRISH MUSIC SESSION, CAVAN FLEADH CHEOIL 2010, ABBEY BAR,
Every pub in Cavan town was packed with people enjoying great traditional Irish music sessions. Sessions held during the annual fleadh Cheoil festival are very dynamic, with musicians drifting in and out of various pubs, joining and leaving sessions, as they please. This clip was filmed after Sharon Shannon's brilliant open air gig in Cavan centre, on the last night of the Fleadh Cheoil, on Sunday, August 21st, 2010. It was so busy on that night, that it wasn't really feasible to move between pubs. From: www.youtube.com I see 3 members of The "NicGavisky" Band - www.nicgaviskey.com Sean Gavin - Flute (Chicago, Illinois) Sean McComiskey - Box (Baltimore, Maryland) Bernadette Nic Gabhann - Fiddle (Limerick) Also - Heather Cole-Mullen - Fiddle (Chicago, Illinois) Freda Nic Giolla Chatháin - Concertina (Galway) Antaine Ó Faracháin - Fiddle (Dublin) All but one musician named? Next year's Fleadh Cheoil (2011) will also be hosted by Cavan town, and judging by 2010, it should be an event well worth attending. Abbey bar, Cavan www.ireland.com

Cavan, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010. Went there with my friends Martin Hennig and Laureen Morrissette. The 60th Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann was set to be the largest ever as it returned to Cavan for the first time since 1954. Thanks for the music used in video to: Clancy & Killen - Mountain Dew
