Dubai Airports Flash Mob
Dubai Airports successfully orchestrated a flash mob showcasing the talents of 55 dancers in Terminal 1 on October 26. The project, which also involved DDF and flydubai, was a key element in a promotional campaign designed to heighten awareness for the recently launched DXB Connect, the world's first Airport Prepaid Mastercard, now on sale at Dubai Duty Free. Not only did it surprise and delight passengers in the airport who witnessed the 'live' version, the video has also gone viral via social media.

Simpson College Hallelujah Chorus Flash Mob
www.simpson.edu It's a cold, gray December day in Iowa, and you're stuck at the mall, trying to elbow past all the other shoppers to find that perfect gift for the relative you only see once a year. Suddenly, you hear the beginning notes of, "The Hallelujah Chorus" play over the mall's sound system. It's much louder than the normal Christmas music. You look around. Young people -- 100 in all -- are removing their coats, revealing their Simpson College T-shirts and sweatshirts. And they begin to sing, filling the mall with their glorious voices. That was the scene Sunday at the Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines, where members of the Simpson College choir (along with a few alumni, faculty and staff members) conducted a "Flash Mob" in the middle of the busy shopping season. In April 2012 Copenhagen Phil (Sjællands Symfoniorkester) surprised the passengers in the Copenhagen Metro by playing Griegs Peer Gynt. The flash mob was created in collaboration with Radio Klassisk radioklassisk.dk All music was performed and recorded in the metro. That's why the recording you hear is so clean and crisp - and the sound is actually surprisingly good in the Copenhagen metro. We did this deliberately because we feel that a good sound experience is vital when trying to portray the actual experience that day. Further to the main recording, when the train was standing still, the recordings from the cameras was, as far as possible, mixed into the sound. Quote from the sound technician: I recorded the sound with XY Oktava MK-012 supercardioid microphones close to the soloists and a set of DPA 4060 omnidirectional microphones as overhead for the rest of the orchestra. For some of the closeupshots, the cameramikes (Sennheiser ME 66) was added.

Seattle dancers doing a rain dance with umbrellas to Glee's recent Singin' In The Rain/Umbrella mashup. Somehow it didn't rain that day! (How unfortunate). In a video shot earlier that day 100 umbrella flash mobbers danced in Pioneer Square. Bobby Bonsey and Team Soapbox teamed up to make an umbrella flash mob in Seattle, WA to raise awareness about traffic and pedestrian safety in downtown Seattle during the holiday season. The original idea to use umbrellas in the flash mob was decided 1 month before Glee's Singing in the Rain episode aired. Seemingly serendipitous, it was an obvious choice of music for the flash mob. This video is part of the city of Seattle's campaign for traffic and pedestrian safety in the downtown area. Thank you Seattle Department of Transportation for making this possible.

A Eucharistic flash mob in the centre of Preston, organised by the Capuchin Franciscans on Ascension Thursday 2011. A small team of Catholic evangelists mingled with the crowd to hand out cards and explain what was going on. Here are some of the reactions.... "What is this about? What is happening? What is this about?" One young girl said: "I've not seen anything like this since Church." "Are they doing this all day? ... Will they be doing it again? ... Are they doing this any where else?" Two young women asked: "Why does God allow hurt and pain in the world?" They agreed it was not God's fault but ours. Then they asked: "Why doesn't Jesus come again?" Algonquin College. Exam week can be stressful on students. Inspired by the Christmas Food Court Flash Mob, Hallelujah Chorus, the Television Broadcasting students at Algonquin College wanted to showcase the new Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence by lightening the mood with the help of the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir and Darth Vader. Thank you to ORYC Manager, Valerie Jerabek and Director, Kevin Reeves for agreeing to participate in this crazy idea. Thank you to the choir itself, for sharing their beautiful voices and for not minding that we subbed in a Sith Lord as conductor 45 minutes before the performance. Thank you to all the students who helped out and in particular to Television student Shane Webster who ontop of helping organizing was running back and forth from the hospital expecting his first child.
