Right before the start of the race weekend of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Fernando Alonso wanted to try the new 458 Spider, which will be presented at the IAA Frankfurt next Tuesday. The Scuderia Ferrari driver enjoyed the potential of the 8-cylinder mid-rear engine from the Prancing Horse - with hard top and fitted with the same most advanced technological content as the multi-awarded 458 Italia and now available in an "en plein air" version - on the roads around Maranello. I went for my second ride in a friend's Ferrari Enzo! It's always a dream and a pleasure for me to sit in this car, one of the most expensive, fastest and good looking Ferrari ever. We did a few clean laps but then we started a battle against a modded Porsche 996 GT2 with 560hp driven by Mr.Alosa in person (one of the most famous italian Porsche tuner). The ride includes also several drifts in the corners and a brutal burnout in the pitlane! This is how a supercar must be driven! Jaw-dropping Ferrari 458 Italia Action
Ferrari is showing off the 562 horsepower car with improvements to fuel consumption and CO2 emissions that, they say, sets "the benchmark in this segment." Using a mid-rear mounted 4.5-liter V8 engine, the 458 goes from 0-100 km/h in under 3.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 325 km/h. The driver controls the engine with the Getrag F1 transmission, a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It has a 407 hp to tonne power-to-weight ratio, with a dry weight of about 1380 kg.

The car is based on the framework and engine of the Ferrari 458 Italia but features numerous design changes to tweak it back to an appearance of Ferraris of old including the 512 Boxer and the headlights from the Enzo. The car had originally planned to be a 12 cyclinder version but clearly this was too much to ask and as such it seems to run the V8 and controls of the normal car. This footage was shot for Shmee150, fairly discretely hence the wobbles and lack of focus while the car was outside. The sound of the car is simply incredible, but the best part has got to be the downshifts = you could hear them a few kilometers around, they echoed throughout the whole circuit!
