Speed of Fencing long version
Behind the bullet, the tip of a fencing blade is the second fastest-moving object in Olympic sports. Speed of Fencing captures the grace and movements of New York's top epee fencers. Using high-speed photography, amateur spectators will be able to see some of the fastest actions in all of sport for the first time. For the untrained eye, a flick scores without notice. Body signals and feints are too acute for a novice. And what happens when someone blinks at the wrong moment? Fencing has some of the fastest moving objects in sport, which is arguably why it is hard to watch and not spectator friendly. All of these actions will be realized in slow motion with high-speed photography to allow the viewer to appreciate and see what happens in the mind of a trained fencer. These actions appear slower to show the speed in which the mind is calculating each action from years of training and repetition. The Fencing Response Compilation Video
"You go out; your hands go up." The fencing response is an unnatural position of the arms following a concussion. Immediately after moderate forces have been applied to the brainstem, the forearms are held flexed or extended (typically into the air) for a period lasting up to several seconds after the impact. The Fencing Response is often observed during athletic competition involving contact, such as football, hockey, rugby, boxing and martial arts. It is used as an overt indicator of injury force magnitude and midbrain localization to aid in injury identification and classification for events including, but not limited to, on-field and/or bystander observations of sports-related head injuries. 2 girls climb US-Mexico border fence in less than 18 seconds
Watch the full movie online- www.TheOtherSideOfImmigration.com Available on Netflix, iTunes, Amazon.com, and anywhere else DVDs are sold. So what's going on here? Since the mid-1990s, the US has built fencing at various points along the southern border in an attempt to deter would-be immigrants from Mexico. Building the fence isn't cheap. On average, each mile of border fence costs US taxpayers about $4 million to build and will cost another $6.5 billion over the next 20 years to repair and maintain. Are we getting our money's worth? Is the border fence an effective deterrent? To find out, I asked two young women—both only about 5'5"—to see if they could climb the wall. Check it out... If we're really serious about reducing undocumented immigration, we could make more effective use of our tax dollars. Those of you who have seen The Other Side of Immigration might remember this statement from the end of the film "Why spend money on a border fence when we could invest in highways, factories, and greenhouses. How many greenhouses could we build for the cost of that wall? If we invest in Mexico, people won't want to leave." What do you think? Would spending a dollar to reduce poverty in Mexico be a more effective way to reduce undocumented immigration than spending a dollar to build more fencing along the border? Chain Link Fence Installation Tips: Installing Posts and Hardware
In this video, Lowe's home improvement expert, Mike Kraft, demonstrates how to install fence posts and hardware for chain link fencing. To watch the previous videos in this series and to find the printable instructions for this video, visit www.Lowes.com The great thing about chain link fencing is that you can dig all the fence post holes at once. The manufacturer will recommend the spacing in between post holes, but it should never exceed 10 feet on-center. Once the post holes are ready, it is time to mark the posts. Typically, the posts should be the height of the fabric, minus 2 inches. For terminal or end posts, it should be the height of the fabric plus 2 inches. Now you can set the posts in the holes, first adding gravel and then making sure the mark is level with the ground. Next, set the post, adding concrete until it is 2 inches below ground level. Continue adding posts down your layout line. Once the post hole concrete is set, you are ready to add the chain link fence hardware. For the terminal post hardware, add tension bands and bolts. Make sure the flat surface of the band is on the fabric side of the fence. The number of tension bands you will need is the height of the fence in feet, minus one. For corner posts, add an extra set of bands for the adjacent run of fencing. Follow by installing the top rail bands, cups and bolts. If installing on a corner post, alternate the ends cups - bottom one up, top one down. Finally, add the post caps to the terminal ...

Wood Fence Installation Tips: Installing Posts and Pickets
Lowe's home improvement expert, Mike Kraft, shows how to install wooden fence posts and pickets when building a new fence. First, set the posts. If you need to cut the fence post to length, you can cut it now. Before you put the post into the holes, add gravel for drainage. Then set the post in place, holding it with braces, and add cement two inches below the surface. After the concrete has dried, you can start adding the fence rails. Follow the land for any contours and adjust the rails as necessary. Attach the rails outside of the top, middle and bottom of each post. You can cut any excess rails once attached. After the rails are all set and attached, you can start putting on the fence pickets. Attach the boards with nails, making sure each picket is close the previous one. At the fence edges, overlap the picket edges to make sure that you have an even and clean corner. Brainiac - Electric Fence
READ PLEASE. Clip taken from UK Show, Brainiac, Season 1 Episode 4. Electric Fence Experiment Richard Hammond shows the Brainiacs how fun Electricity can be. Also, yes, if you are in the air when the electricity goes through, you don't get a shock. You don't get shocked if the circuit (box to fence to person to ground to box) doesn't complete. On top of that, the end where he ALMOST shakes Hammond's hand, he doesn't. Also, the slight gap in time between feet hitting ground and the shock can be attributed to the 1-2 second delay caused by the fence not being constantly on. 1st Song: Electric Six - Danger! Fence Installation Tips: Layout and Digging Post Holes
Lowe's home improvement expert, Mike Kraft, demonstrates how to properly layout your new fencing and how to dig post holes. First, make some batterboards to support the fencing layout strings. Then, drive the batterboard into the ground to start the fence layout, usually at the corner of a house or hardscape feature. Use mason's string to mark the line where the fence posts will be set. Also, make sure to account for rails and pickets when lining up with the edge of your house. Then, measure for each section of your fence, using batterboards and mason's string to mark the layout. Lastly, review your layout and adjust for full panels. After reviewing, you can drive stakes into the positions where your fence posts will be installed. Mike Kraft then shows the next step in the installation process, digging fence post holes. First, mark the center for the first post on the ground. It should be set back half the width of the post from the string. Then, you can begin digging the fence post holes along your layout. If you need extra help digging a post hole, try using a power earth auger. The power auger is an easy and effective way to create new fence post holes. Redwood salvaged from city fences as tiny shedworking studio
When San Francisco artist and builder Jay Nelson sees someone tearing down a redwood fence in his neighborhood he asks if he can take it home with him. With a stockpile of salvaged, old growth redwood fencing, he recently built a tiny studio for his friend Lana to use as a home office. It's just under 100 square feet and that means it's small enough so that San Francisco doesn't require a permit. In this video, Nelson shows us his stockpile of wood, the studio made of nearly all salvaged materials (doors, windows, flooring included) and how it nearly melts into the yard because of its rounded shape. He also gives us a peek at the greenhouse he's building out of some of his recycled redwood just next to the studio. Original story: faircompanies.com Jay's website: jaynelsonart.com
