My Tribute to Fandango (w/filming location pics)
Join us for the Ultimate Fandango this July 2010! ultimatefandango.com Fandango, my all time favorite movie. A film about friendship, growing up, and how things change with time. This is a video I put together with screenshots, a few video clips, and several photos I took. From March 2 to March 5 2007 a friend and I drove all over west Texas visiting several of the locations where Fandango was filmed. This film has meant a lot to me for over 20 years now. Not a lot of people seem to know of this film, but most who do really cherish it. It was an amazing experience to see all these locations in person. If you haven't seen it, check it out!
Fandango "Santiago de Murcia"
Santiago de Murcia (1673 - 1739) Codex Zaldivar No.4 Mexico c.1730 Spanish composer Santiago de Murcia is considered the last great exponent of the Spanish five-course Baroque guitar, a transitory instrument between the lowly Renaissance guitar and the modern Classical guitar. De Murcia privately published a major collection and treatise on guitar playing in Madrid in 1714 entitled Resumen de Acompanar, and his work is known from three manuscript collections, among them Passacalles y Obras, located in the British Museum since 1880, and Codex Saldivar No. 4, named after Gabriel Saldivar, who discovered the manuscript in Mexico in 1943. Codex Saldivar No. 4 was not related to de Murcia until the 1980s, and at one time it was common to open biographies of de Murcia with the line "very little is known about him." Nevertheless, through new works discovered and the diligent research of musicologists Monica Hall and Craig Russell a coherent historic profile has begun to emerge of de Murcia since the author of Saldivar No. 4 was finally determined, albeit a still highly conjectural one. Santiago de Murcia was born into a family of musicians who served at the Royal court of Spain in Madrid; his father Gabriel de Murcia and older brother Antonio both worked as instrument makers to the Spanish king. Santiago de Murcia's first professional engagement was as guitar instructor to Doña Maria Luisa Gabriela, Queen of Savoy, the wife of Philip V, the first Bourbon king of Spain. She died ...

Grim Fandango Soundtrack- 'Companeros'
"Companeros" is one of the pieces that plays at the Day of the Dead Festival in Year 1. The name roughly means "comrades" and alludes to Salvador and his Lost Souls' Alliance, since the festival takes place right above LSA headquarters. To me, all of the traditional folk-sounding music in the game somehow connects to the LSA or to the Temple in Year 4, either as Music of the People or as sacred music. The style is a sort of blend between rural folk music and the sounds of a Mexican mariachi band. To get inspiration and understanding of this kind of music, I did a lot of listening, both to recordings of Mexican folk tunes, and to live mariachis. San Francisco has an area called the Mission District which has an incredible mix of Latin and Anglo-American cultures. Depending on the club you walk into, you can hear live swing, salsa, modern jazz, acid jazz, punk rock, folk, blues and mariachi bands nearly any night of the week. Most of the musicians who played on the Grim Fandango sound track either live in the Mission District and play these clubs regularly, or were found through contacts I made there. The mariachi musicians who perform in "Companeros" are among these. The band includes trumpet, violin, guitar, a small tenor guitar-like instrument called the vihuela, as well as a beautiful bass guitar called the guitaron. -Peter McConnell Grim Fandango is © Lucasarts

Rejected Fandango bag commercials
If you have ever visited the nations top movie theater chain, chances are you've seen those creepy Fandango commercials where they dress up paper bags and interact with each other. This somehow influences people to purchase movie tickets online in advance. In any case, some Fandango bags never make the commercial cut. Therefore, this is their opportunity to shine. Back when first uploaded, the sound sync was messed up. Maybe now its better, but if not, youtubes fault. **Disclaimer** This video is a comical satire mainly for movie theater employees and managers who half to watch the real commercials over and over. This in no way, shape or form is realated to the actual Fandango.com. This is not to be taken seriously, its just a few of us having some fun. Please don't sue us. (plus we don't have any money anyways, we work at a movie theater)
