Awesome Origami Jet that flies: F-18 Hornet
This fourth video of the F-18 Hornet model is from my book: Awesome Origami Jets That Fly (2007). One of my favorite models that flies very well. As I recalled, this model had one of the most revisions I care not to repeat; but in the end, I am happy with the result. There are more complicated ones not video tape yet because it could take longer time than my first video. But if one can do all the first four videos, then one should be proficient enough to do most of the models in the book. More familiarity with the origami symbols and folds are highly recommended in addition to these videos. Please remember to comment, I am not sure if the visitors are having any problems following my instructions. I wanted to make these videos to help make my book easier to fold some of the models for those who have already bought my book, in addition to give some previews for others not familiar with my work. US Navy F-18 crashes in residential area in Virginia Beach 4/6/2012
A US Navy F-18 fighter crashed shortly after take-off into an apartment building in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and set it on fire, authorities said on Friday. The two crew members ejected safely from the F-18, said Navy spokesman Phil Rosi on MSNBC. He said the plane was from a training squadron at Naval Air Station Oceana at Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach is on the Atlantic Coast about 200 miles south Washington, DC.

Terrorist attack? Malfunction? the crew was apparently able to eject and save themselves, but it is unknown if any people were killed. The apartments are apparently designated for Senior Citizens.
Navy F-18 Fighter Jet Crashes Into Apartment Complex in Virginia Beach 4/6/2012
An F-18 military fighter jet crashed into an apartment building near Virginia Beach on Friday. The two-man crew ejected, and there no reports of casualties on the ground. A spokesperson with the Navy told WAVY.com that the plane was an F18 Strike fighter squadron 106, based at the Ocean Naval Air Station. Stretchers have been brought to the scene. The Navy has not released the condition of the crew, although some media reports say they have been hospitalized. A witness to the aftermath, Zack Zapatero, says people on the ground near the apartments were screaming and crying, with visible cuts and injuries. He said many residents are elderly. The F-18 is the same type of plane flown by the flight exposition team the Blue Angels, which are based in Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida

F-18 Engine Fire At Sea
airboyd.tv Courtesy US Navy Video/Released (No Audio) An F/A-18C Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 113 experienced an engine fire following a touch-and-go landing aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) April 11. The pilot was able to execute a single-engine approach and land on board. Upon landing, the aircraft fuselage became engulfed in flames. Carl Vinson's Crash and Salvage team, assigned to Air Department's V-1 Division, responded immediately with the P-25 mobile fire fighting vehicle along with the flight deck emergency hose team. PACIFIC OCEAAN (April 11,2 011) The aircraft fire was extinguished using aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), and the pilot exited the plane uninjured. No flight deck personnel were injured in the mishap.
Spanish Air Force F-18 Hornet video
This video was filmed at the Spanish Air Force Base in Zaragoza. The flying scenes were filmed throughout the north of Spain, to include Aragon, Catalonia and the Pyrenees mountains, as well as the hills and coastlines of Cantabria, Asturias and the Basque Country (El Pais Vasco) on Spain's northern Atlantic coast. No bunny rabbits were harmed in the making of this video.

The Checkmates are embarked aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65) which is underway on its 21st and final operational deployment. Enterprise is 50 years old.
