The film opens in a Northern California forest as a group of alien botanists collect flora samples. US government agents appear and the aliens flee in their spaceship, leaving one of their own behind in their haste. The scene shifts to a suburban California home, where a boy named Elliott plays servant to his older brother, Michael, and his friends. As he fetches pizza, Elliott discovers the stranded alien, who promptly flees. Despite his family's disbelief, Elliott leaves Reese's Pieces candy in the forest to lure it into his bedroom. Before he goes to bed, Elliott notices the alien imitating his movements. Elliott feigns illness the next morning to avoid school so he can play with the alien. That afternoon, Michael and their younger sister, Gertie, meet the alien. Their mother, Mary, hears the noise and comes upstairs. Michael, Gertie, and the alien hide in the closet while Elliott assures his mother that everything is all right. Michael and Gertie promise to keep the alien a secret from their mother. Deciding to keep the alien, the children begin to ask it about its origin. It answers by levitating balls to represent its solar system, and further demonstrates its powers by reviving a dead plant. At school the next day, Elliott begins to experience a psychic connection with the alien. Elliott becomes irrational due partly to the alien's intoxication from drinking beer. Denny Randell is a producer and arranger known for his work with artists Terri De Sario, Charlie Calello Orchestra, Odyssey and The Regal Dewy. He brings to life in this 12" single from 1982 John Williams' magical theme from "ET (The Extra Terrestrial)" and adds his own disco touch. I have taken the 12" version of Randell's disco version and paired it with scenes from the film. "ET (The Extra Terrestrial)" and attempted to bring the single and film together for a glimpse back on the wonderful emotions and feeling they create. This was made to be used in a review I made on this French site here: www.geekmodeblog.com I beat the game on the hardest difficulty, the one with the two bad guys, which is the default difficulty when you start the game anyway (note that this is not a very long game). This game is often reported as being the worst game on the Atari 2600 or even the worst video game ever, but here's a different opinion: www.randomterrain.com While it's bad in my opinion and the general opinion, I don't think it's the worst game ever since a lot of video games are at least as bad as this or worse (just check Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, it's barely playable and it's from 2003). Perhaps people remember this as the worst game because there were expectations for it (also meaning that a lot of copies of this game were produced) and also because Atari buried most cartridges in a New Mexico desert landfill. There is also the fact that the game came around the same time as the North American video game crash of 1983 (ET came out in 1982), people often citing this game as the cause of it. While not being the worst game, ET can be a frustrating and dull experience, but I hear there are fans of this game. I'll say that if I had played this as a child, I might have enjoyed it a bit.
