The wave velocity in the blue medium is lower than the wave velocity in the green medium. The angle of incidence is sufficiently large to prevent any transmitted wave from traveling into the green region, yet there is still an evanescent wave present in the green medium that decays exponentially with distance. The line of shadow shows the incident wavefronts, and the colored balls move along with the incident (then reflected) wave. This was created using POV-Ray. This is a Bellydance video of me, improvising to the song "Evanescent" by the Persian group, Axiom Of Choice. This video was recorded during my performance at a Hafla. Out of all of the upbeat music chosen by the dancers, mine was the most "sad". I wanted to choose a song that holds meaning to me, and so I chose this beautiful Traditional Persian song. I will provide the translated lyrics below. I am a 19year-old Persian Bellydancer, with drops of Azerbaijani and Egyptian in my blood. This combination, aside many other reasons, makes me passionate about some of the most beautiful dance forms in the world - Oriental Dances. Evanescent and Propagating Waves
Time domain simulation of a set of plane waves for different wavenumbers (k). At first the wavenumber is positive real number and keeps reducing down to 0. This constitutes the propagating region where the spatial wavelength (lambda) increases as the wavenumber (k) decreases. Then, wavenumber becomes negative imaginary and increases in magnitude. This region demonstrates the non-propagating or decaying properties of evanescent waves. In the evanescent region, the greater the magnitude of the wavenumber, the faster the wave decays.
