'Europe coughing up cash for US military gamble in Iran'

Europeans should ask why they are to pay for an American-Israeli adventure in Iran during a time of unprecedented austerity, political analyst Chris Bambery told RT. Iran says it will definitely stop oil exports to "certain" European countries, while the decision to cut supplies to further EU states is still in discussion. This comes as Tehran's response to an EU oil embargo that was set to come into force on July 1. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

How Germany Became Europe's Richest Country

As European debt crisis negotiations approach the 11th hour on yet another bailout for Greece, Margaret Warner reports on some of the people behind the economic success of Germany -- Europe's richest country.

European Union EXPLAINED

The history and possible future of the European UNIONS. Welcome to the Gradualreport ... Today The European Union Because its about time we understood what it means. intro: In the 1940's the entire world was at war and people were killing each other because they had different ideas about who was the boss. Germany was like I'm the boss... And Italy was no like I'm the boss... And England was like, I was the boss you can't be the boss... And Japan was like im going to be the new boss... And france was like I like cheese... And then pearl Harbor and then America was like WTF WORLD check out this Mushroom cloud BOOOORRNRNRORNRNRRWMMM And everyone was like Dude we need to chill the F out so cold war. In that enviroment The french and teh germans were like coal and steel production should be regulated by a supra-national, not inter-governmental High athority face. to create a unified tarrif and ease trade. Germany was like great idea france lets... and in 1957 the European economic Commision was formed alng with the European Atomic Commmision. The Commision slowly started to reduce tarrifs and increase movement of labor and goods and capital to those who were apparty to it and then they were like this is workign so well with steel and coal and atoms lets add agriculture to it. so in 1965 the European community was creaded to over see the growing comunity and eventually got to be so big they were like were more like a union then a community so in December of 1991 they all voted ...

Bilderberg Demands Internet ID for all EU Citizens

The European Union is now moving to create a mandatory electronic ID system for all EU citizens that would be implemented across Europe to standardize business both online and in person, authenticating users via a common 'electronic signature.' A single authenticating ID would guard access to the Internet, online data and most commerce. It is nothing short of an attempt to phase in a Mark of the Beast system, and a prominent Bilderberg attendee is behind the scheme. Neelie Kroes is the EU's Digital Agenda Commissioner, and is introducing legislation she hopes will force "the adoption of harmonised e-signatures, e-identities and electronic authentication services (eIAS) across EU member states." The extent of such a system would, of course, expand over time, particularly as many EU nations have resisted the big government encroachment of ID requirements on civil rights grounds, which even now smack of the Nazi regime's draconian "papers please" policies that empowered their other avenues of tyranny. According to EurActiv.com, Neelie Kroes would later "widen the scope of the current Directive by including also ancillary authentication services that complement e-signatures, like electronic seals, time/date stamps, etc," as the supra-national body attempts to corral more nations into participation. This big brother system will be implemented in Europe first and later pushed in North America and the remainder of the globe, as the world is nudged step by step towards a total ...

Alasdair Macleod: All Roads in Europe Lead to Gold

This week we bring back Alasdair Macleod, publisher of Finance and economics.org, because, as he puts it "every horror that we discussed last time we spoke is coming about". Especially scary since our previous conversation with him was less than three weeks ago... Today's interview continues building on his excellent synopsis from last month that detailed the origins of the Eurozone crisis. The fundamental shortcomings warned of at the Euro's creation in 1997, combined with the excessive sovereign debts run up since then, have finally expressed themselves at a scale too large to be contained any longer. Today, Alasdair details in-depth the huge and serious challenges facing Greece and the major Eurozone countries, and the likely impacts of the fast-dwindling options left remaining. He sees no happy ending to this story, no outcome in which serious pain and permanent behavior change can be avoided. And for those looking for shelter from the unfolding economic storm, he sees few options besides the precious metals (which he believes are severely under priced at the moment).

"Germany is dominating Europe"

Pulling the strings - Nigel Farage says political puppets are being put into place across the Euro zone. Transcript of speech: "Here we are on the edge of a financial and social disaster and in the room today we have the four men who are supposed to be responsible. And yet we have listened to the dullest most, technocratic speeches I've ever heard. You are all in denial. By any objective measure the euro is a failure. And who exactly is responsible, who is in charge out of all you lot? The answer is none of you because none of you have been elected; none of you have any democratic legitimacy for the roles you currently hold within this crisis. And into this vacuum, albeit reluctantly, has stepped Angela Merkel. And we are now living in a German-dominated Europe - something that the European project was actually supposed to stop. Something that those who went before us actually paid a heavy price in blood to prevent. I don't want to live in a German-dominated Europe and nor do the citizens of Europe. But you guys have played a role, because when Mr Papandreou got up and used the word 'referendum' - or Mr Rehn, you described it as 'a breach of confidence', and your friends here got together like a pack of hyenas, rounded on Papandreou, had him removed and replaced by a puppet Government. What an absolutely disgusting spectacle that was. And not satisfied with that, you decided that Berlesconi had to go. So he was removed and replaced by Mr Monti, a former European ...

euronews I talk - Human rights in Europe is getting worse says Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg

www.euronews.com Chris Burns: "The Council of Europe's Human Rights Commissioner, Thomas Hammarberg, wraps up his six year term at the end of this month and he's going out with a bang not a whimper. The former head of Amnesty International, he accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977 on behalf of Amnesty says the human rights situation in Europe is getting worse not better. "It's your chance now to ask questions to Mr Hammarberg, who is joining us from Luxembourg. Mr Hammarberg, wrapping up your six year term, how does it feel and the fact that things are worse and not better after six years..." Thomas Hammarberg: "I think that I am a bit disappointed there is no ground for complacency in Europe about our human rights performance. One reason of course is the economic crisis, which has undermined the social rights for quite a number of people as a consequence of the austerity budgets but also I feel that the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in New York on the 11th of September 2001 has not had a good effect on the respect for human rights. People have been arrested and tortured even when there was no real proof that they had been involved in the planning of this terrorist attack. And torture, of course, should be absolutely forbidden." Chris Burns: "Well, lets take a look at how the situation is now and get some questions from some of our viewers. Lets take a look at our first question now." Gabriela, Czech Republic: "I'm Roma from the Czech Republic. I work for the Ergo ...

euronews cinema - Cartoon Movie shows depth of European talent

www.euronews.com Which European animation movie will get into cinemas tomorrow? 2012's Cartoon Movie, gathering over 700 participants from 35 countries in the French city of Lyon, presented 55 European animation film projects in a bid to raise finance for films either in concept, development, production or already completed. How does Cartoon Movie work? In the morning participants get to see trailers of the movie projects presented here. Film producers, buyers, distributors and sales agents then go to one of the presentation studios for more information about the project that interests them. The key questions are: What's the story? How much money do you need? Is it a family movie or for teenagers? Are the DVD rights for sale? After the business cards are exchanged everyone hopes for the beginning of a fruitful co-production. One of the projects, "The Boy with the Clock" is the story of Little Jack who was born on the coldest day on earth with a frozen heart. A doctor performs a Cuckoo Clock transplant to save his life The film project in production is based on a book by French musician and writer Mathieu Malzieu. "I wrote the music as if the book needed a film soundtrack. I was already dreaming about it being made into a movie, even thought I was far from sure one would ever be made. But luckily I bumped into Luc besson and his wife Virginie who wanted to produce it," he says. What has the audience feedback been like for the movie presentation? "We've had a lot of very ...

euronews I talk - Is the European Commission just another red tape brigade in the EU?

www.euronews.com Alex Taylor "We all hate annoying bureaucracy and a mindless filling out of useless forms, whether it be on paper or on the net. Is the European Commission doing anything to reduce red tape from our daily lives or is it part of the problem? Here to answer your questions is the EU Commissioner for Inter-Institutional Relations and Administration Maroš Šefčovič. Did I pronounce your name right?" Maroš Šefčovič: "Perfect, very good, very good pronunciation." Alex Taylor: "You say Maroš....?" Maroš Šefčovič: "Cheftchovitch" Alex Taylor: "Cheftchovitch. OK right. You're ready to answer our citizens' questions?" Maroš Šefčovič: "Absolutely, yes." Alex Taylor: "First question to you from Rafael." "I want to know why the administration is so burdened with paperwork. There's so much of it in relation to the administration; unemployment, the school enrolment of children.... there's just too much! There are plenty of Municipalities, lots of jurisdictions, regional and federal and it's very difficult to understand it all here in Brussels." Alex Taylor: "We all thought that the internet was going to make things much easier, less paper and so forth. It's not the case, why?" Maroš Šefčovič: "Not always but I have to agree with our citizen here that sometimes we still have overlapping competencies, especially between the local and national level and sometimes even the European one." Alex Taylor: "Can't you do anything about that?" Maroš Šefčovič: "Yes of course. I think ...

euronews I talk - Europe's climate boss answers I-talk's questions

www.euronews.com Everyone agrees that these days we have to do something about the climate, but what? Connie Hedegaard is the European Commissioner for Climate Action, which cannot be an easy job seeing that different countries on our continent seem to have very different ideas on how to go about things on such important issues such as nuclear energy, for example. *I-talk presenter Alex Taylor:* "Lets go for a first question for Mrs Hedegaard." *"Hello, my name is Cristina Piffer, I'm Italian and in the name of all Italians I'd like to ask you what are the EU's concrete measures to fight global warming and daily pollution. Thank you." * *Alex Taylor:* "I told you basic questions. Quick answer." *Connie Hedegaard:* "I think what Europe can do is to prove to the world that you can have growth but at the same time you can have less energy consumption. We have done that with our cars, we have done that with energy efficiency in our houses, in the way we live our lives. We are actually one of the most energy-efficient economies in the world. So I think that we are setting an example, but we should do even more to continue to set a good example." *Alex Taylor:* "Ok let's go into more details now with another question." *"Hello, my name is Mohamed Agar and I'm from Belgium. I just have a question on carbon dioxide quotas. In just the last few days both China and America have refused to apply them. Are you going to bow to their wills or force their airlines to pay CO2 quotas ...

The European debt crisis explained: The debt levels around the globe are unprecedented in peacetime. The odds of restructurings and/or defaults are higher than most believe. When does debt become unsustainable? The video shows the debt levels of numerous countries have reached "problem" levels. Since the bill coming due in the form of maturing bonds is so large, policymakers in Europe have no easy way out. "Solutions" may include printing money to create inflation or debt restructurings/defaults; or a combination of the two. euronews I talk - Should the European Commission make a decision on assisted suicide?

www.euronews.com Should those suffering from incurable diseases have the right to assisted suicide? At the moment this issue varies from country to country, and some have yet to decide. Should you have the right to die with dignity? Euronews' Alex Taylor speaks to Doctor Bernard Devalois, Head of the Palliative Care Unit at the Hospital of Pontoise in France, putting forward your questions on I-talk. The first question comes from Alexandre from France: "As a Frenchman, I'm asking the question because there are a lot of discussions in France on whether we should allow assisted suicide, and the similarity between suicide and assisted suicide, and no law has been passed, either in France or Europe to harmonise the rules. To allow people to die with dignity. "So as more and more people talk about this, when will a European law be passed that will help people to die with dignity?" *Alex Taylor:* "A fundamental question. There's no agreement between different countries. What is the European position? Is there one?" *Dr Bernard Devalois:* "There is no European position as it's a complicated issue. Dying with dignity is not at all the same as assisted suicide or lethal injection. These are different things. Palliative care is to ensure that people die with dignity. In France for example there is a law on that..." *Alex Taylor:* "But why can't we have the same law in all of the countries?" *Dr Bernard Devalois:* "So I think there is already a problem to use the correct terms ...

euronews U talk - What is the European Citizens' Initiative?

www.euronews.com In this edition of U-talk, Damien, from Lyon, France, poses this question: "I was recently approached in the street and asked to sign a European Citizens' Initiative to improve animal protection in the European Union. The organisers explained that if they got enough signatures the European Commission would be obliged to study the matter. Is this true?" Malgorzata Kurowska, Senior Communications Officer for Europe Direct, responds: "Indeed, as from 1 April 2012, the new European Citizens' Initiative allows European citizens to be more directly involved in the legislative procedure of the European Union. It will let them invite the European Commission to propose a new piece of legislation. "To get started, the interested parties need to set up a special committee. This committee has to be made up of at least seven EU citizens who are old enough to vote in European Parliament elections and living in at least seven different European countries. "The committee, acting as an official organiser of the initiative, then needs to register on the special website of the European Commission. "The European Commission then has two months to verify if the provided data are correct and if the issue concerns matters where the EU has the competence to act and then it will validate the registration. "After the initiative is registered, the committee can start collecting statements of support from the European citizens. The organisers have one year to do so. The statements ...

Can a French university refuse her application? Does she need to pay for her studies?" Responding is Malgorzata Kurowska, the Senior Communication Officer from Europe Direct: "Being an EU citizen you have the right to study at university in any EU country under the same conditions as its nationals, so in your case you can choose to study in France. Entry conditions may vary between countries and universities. "Regardless of the other entry conditions, you may not be refused access to the university on grounds of your nationality although the university may ask you to take a language test. However, such rules should be applied in a proportionate manner and should also take into consideration individual circumstances, for instance, if you have already worked or studied in a country using that language. "You should know that EU law doesn't exempt you from tuition fees. However it states that you should be treated equally to nationals of the country where you wish to study. For instance if French students need to pay tuition fees, you will have to do so as well. But you can't be required to pay higher course fees than French citizens. "This treatment however does not extend to maintenance, support or loans. Some countries may nevertheless provide these to foreign students, but this is up ...

Bob Chapman: Economic Elites Strip Away European Sovereignty 1/3

Even the middle of the road journalists are beginning to question Europe's elected and appointed leadership. This past Monday the plan for the euro zone was laid out for a final capitulation to world government. The financial crisis has been handled from behind the scenes by the Fed, so that Germany's Chancellor Merkel and France's President can concentrate on more important matters, namely the final federalization of the euro zone to be followed by the entrapment of the remainder of the European Union. The calls for major changes to the current treaties have little to do with the debt crisis. What these two emissaries of the world elitists are up to is to tear down the legal strength of monetary and political union of this unnatural association, and replace it with a stricter budgetary discipline known as the ESM, the European Stabilization Mechanism, this ostensibly to support countries in difficulty. Within this major change is a complete shift away from the original Maastricht and Lisbon Treaties, which is being done without the consent of the public in these countries. There is one exception to that in the case of Germany that must approve the changes. On the 9th the final proposals will be laid out and agreed upon by various heads of state, some elected and some appointed. This "leadership" could care less what the people of these countries think. There are no trappings of democracy here, just the iron fist of Illuminist ... theinternationalforecaster.com www ...
