Designed and built by a consortium of three separate partner companies: Alenia Aeronautica, BAE Systems, and EADS working through a holding company Eurofighter GmbH which was formed in 1986. The Eurofighter is basically a lightweight Dassault Rafale with construction 82% composites = 70% carbon fibre composites + 12% glass reinforced composites. Controversy about the Eurofighter Typhoon design and performance could not decide if the Eurofighter is a 4.5th-generation jet fighter aircraft or fifth-generation fighter aircraft.

SUKHOI 30 MKI IN WAR GAMES OUTSIDE INDIA WITH RAF, FAF
Indra Dhanush 2007 featured highly advanced combatants on both sides. On one side is Britain's Eurofighter Typhoon, whose advanced aerodynamics and intuitive controls and avionics have led to studies like the UK DERA rating it as the second-best air superiority aircraft in the world. Its supporting cast includes 1980s era Tornado F3 air defense variants, and upgraded GR9 Harriers from the Royal Navy. On the other side is India's SU-30MKI, the most evolved variant of Sukhoi's outstanding Flanker family, with aerodynamics that allow unique maneuvers, and full thrust vectoring besides. Between June 14th and 25th 2010 Base Aerienne 125 Istres-Le-Tube saw the arrival of the mighty SU-30 once again, this time in the shape of the more potent Sukhoi SU-30MKI, which arrived at Istres for Garuda IV. The Sukhoi SU-30MKI's that arrived at Istres from 8 Squadron, departed the Central Air Command base at Air Force Station Bareilly on the afternoon of 7th June led by Group Captain J. Mishra. The fighter and tanker aircraft involved re-positioned to Ahmedabad and the contingent arrived there on 8th June. The launch sequence from Ahmedabad was in three cells consisting of an IL-78MKI (callsign Astra) with two Su-30MKI in Cell1, an IL-78MKI (callsign Titan) with two Su-30MKI in Cell 2, and a third IL-78MKI (callsign PLUTO) with two Su-30MKI forming the final cell.

Dassault Rafale ______ The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engined delta-wing agile multi-role fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation. The Rafale was brought in as the replacement for the Mirage 2000-5 that was originally a competitor for the tender,after the production lines for the Mirage closed down, as well as the entry of much more advanced aircraft into the competition. The Rafale has the advantage of being logistically and operationally similar to the Mirage 2000, which the IAF already operates and used with great success during the Kargil War (see Operation Safed Sagar). This would require fewer changes in the existing infrastructure of the IAF, which in turn will reduce cost. Moreover, being 100 per cent French also provided Dassault a distinct edge over its competitors on the issue of technology transfer.Dassault claims that the Rafale has an advantage over many of the competitors because it is not subject to ITAR restrictions. The French government has cleared full technology transfer of the Rafale to India, including that of the RBE2-AA Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar (which will be integrated with the Rafale by 2010 and the transfer of software source codes, which will allow Indian scientists to re-programme a radar or any sensitive equipment if need be.Without the software source codes, the IAF would have to specify mission parameters to foreign manufacturers to enable configuration of their radar, seriously compromising ...
