5/24/2012 -- Large Explosive eruption at Sakurajima Volcano - South Japan

It has been a few days since we have seen new video posted from this specific volcano in Japan -- the webcams are on 24/7 (linked below). The agency which monitors this area issued an alert mid-way last year (2011) for the possibility of a large scale eruption from Sakurajima , with a possible associated pyroclastic flow which could result from a large ash plume fallout. This alert still remains active, and if you live in Japan around this area directly, be aware these eruptions will continue into the near term and long term future... its only a matter of time before a very large eruption occurs. This current series of already somewhat large eruptions is VERY impressive to see . Static discharge lightning, the entire mountainside covered in lava, and the accompanying ash clouds that are expected with such events. mirrored with permission from: www.youtube.com watch the live streaming sakurajima cams here: www.qsr.mlit.go.jp

Amazing Video: Giant solar flare erupting from Sun surface

Courtesy: NASA NASA released images of a powerful solar flare that unleashed an eruption of super-heated plasma from the surface of the sun before blasting into space. The flare was recorded by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) spacecraft, which is part of a 5-year mission focused on the sun. NASA described the eruption as "a beautiful prominence eruption producing a coronal mass ejection," known as a CME. It was not directed towards Earth. Extremely powerful CMEs can pose a danger to astronauts and satellites in space, as well as power grids, navigation and communications systems on Earth. Precious Wilson (ERUPTION) "One Way Ticket"

taken from top album ERUPTION "Leave A Light", 1979 www.sonymusic.de eruption-bio.narod.ru http PRECIOUS WILSON is one of the pioneers of the UK black music revolution of the 1970s and 80s, alongside such artists as Junior Giscombe, Jazzy B (Soul 2 Soul), Heatwave, Loose Ends, Leee John (Imagination), Eddy Grant, BIlly Ocean, Five Star, Incognito, Carroll Thompson and David Grant (Lynx). She started her career as the lead singer of the Soul Disco group Eruption, and then later, as a solo artist. Precious Wilson will always be regarded with great affection as a stand-out act from that great era of popular music. As a child, she was exposed to many musical influences, including, Country, R&B and Gospel. This combined with the home grown Jamaican music of Lovers Rock, Reggae and Calypso, contributed to her eclectic taste in popular music which is still very much with her to this day. Precious moved to England as a young child, where she was exposed to other forms of music such including Classical, Pop, and Rock. All of these elements have contributed to Precious sensual, soulful and exciting vocal style, which has become her trademark. She continues to wow audiences with her performances internationally and has a very large fan base across much of continental and Eastern Europe, especially Russia. In between shows, Precious Wilson is busy writing material for a new album which is scheduled for release in 2009. preciouswilson.com

5/12/2012 -- Sakurajima volcano Japan -- Eruption with static discharge lightning

The Sakurajima volcano in south Japan produces some of the most spectacular eruptions on the planet -- and does so on a daily/weekly basis. This eruption shows a large volume of lava, ash, and static discharge lightning mixed in with the cloud as it rises from the smoldering caldera. As of late.. the Japanese agency which monitors this volcano has not been uploading all the eruptions (most likely due to either connection issues or other internal broadcasting delays). Enjoy this one.. its the first I've seen on their page since late April (2012). mirrored with permission from: www.youtube.com

Iceland's super-volcano threatens to erupt

Volcanic eruptions in Iceland are capable of affecting air traffic across Europe, as the Eyjafjallajokull volcano showed by grounding flights for a week in 2010. Now, recent tremors around the much larger Katla volcano indicate that it may be nearing eruption as well. Experts are concerned that such an event could bring global travel disruptions and flooding from melted glaciers. Al Jazeera's Barnaby Phillips reports from southern Iceland.

Another video that I took of the volcanic eruption in Grimsvotn, Vatnajokull, Iceland. Plume of ash shoots 20 km in the air between 4 and 6 am May 22nd, 2011, causing air traffic jams. Location: 1 km from eruption. We drove up across the glacier on specially modified trucks for Icelandic highlands. What looks like clouds is a snow storm we got ourselves in. At this time we were getting some ash fall and flying lava rocks hitting us frequently. Thor E. Bachmann Taken with my Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc

The eruption - Emperor

This is the first song of the album "Prometheus: The Discipline Of Fire And Demise" recorded by Emperor in the year of 2001. Here are the lyrics: ... and after years in dark tunnels he came to silence there was nothing... he realised that the cheering cries of worship were but echoes of his harsh outspoken word reflecting back at him from cold and naked walls in hollow circles fled illusions of wisdom he had heard "From nothing came all I ever knew" and he beheld the ruins of an empire torn apart yet, no grief nor rage did bind him just silent and bewildered by the emptiness he stumbled off his throne suddenly, the walls around him cracked wide open and an endless void appeared in flickering, grey light "What force, but silence, has deprived me of my coil? No trail to guide me. No point of reference in sight." "By nothing, resurrection will be pure." and he beheld the ruins of an empire torn apart wiping dust off his shoulders just silent now in this emptiness leaving all behind step by step past all past slowly he approached the surface nothing left to sacrifice the mirrors mocked him on the way

Volcanic Eruption Grimsvötn Iceland - Helicopter.is

Volcanic Eruption Grimsvötn Iceland. Shot by Jon Gustafsson www.JonGustafsson.com for the Helicopter Service of Iceland - http We landed on the glacier, 5 miles away from the crater around 11pm, and that was 3-4 hours after the eruption started. It was so extremely cold on the glacier that I only managed 2 minutes outside the helicopter. After that I tried to shoot the rest hand-held from inside the Bell LongRanger. We got around 15 minutes of film time over the volcano and then we had to turn back. The light was disappearing and the pilots needs visual references to fly. I edited the video in the helicopter on the way back to Reykjavik. I didn't even have time to watch what I edited because I had to get it out to broadcasters asap In the taxi from the airport I figured I would put this on YouTube and VIMEO to show to potential buyers of the footage. To make sure no one would take the footage without permission I put "Helicopter.is" on it and added music from my friend and Hollywood composer Veigar Margeirsson. Now that I watch it 5 days later for the first time I see that the music fits perfectly. It makes me want to watch the whole thing till the end. The only thing you can hear on the original soundtrack is the motor of the Bell LongRanger and distorted wind noise as the wind hammered my microphone. Sometimes you can also hear my own voice as I complain about the bitter cold but we never heard the volcano. Video: www.JonGustafsson.com Music www.Veigar.com Pilot Reynir ...

etna eruption - etna eruzione

www.markus-belde.de volcano etna eruption sicily Jan. 12, 2011, etna eruzione sicilia, Vulkan Ätna Ausbruch von der Terrasse Hotel Villa Schuler Taormina Sizilien 12. Januar 2011, von Markus Belde Mount Etna, the 3329-metre 10922-feet volcano in Sicily erupted in the evening of January 12, 2011 for around four hours, providing an amazing scenery. On the evening of 11th January 2011 an increase in volcanic tremor was recorded at the summit of the volcano. The recorded seismic activity reached a peak at 7 am on 12th January when the source moved from north of NE crater to the SE crater. The eruption started with strombolian explosive activity at SE crater at around 9.pm Lava overflowed the eastern rim of SE crater and fed a flow that moved toward the western wall of the Valle del Bove (Valley of the oxen), an ancient huge uninhabited depression on the NE side of the volcano. The Sicilian communities near the volcano were not threatened by this latest fascinating eruption. Known as 'Jebel Utlamat' in Arabic - meaning 'mountain of fire - Etna's name is thought to originate from the Phoenician word 'attuna', meaning 'furnace'. Etna is Europe's most active volcano and has been active for around half a million years. Eruptions have rarely threatened the inhabited areas in the volcano's vicinity. Most eruptions take place on the summit area around its 4 crates with spectacular lava streams flowing usually inside the large uninhabited depression of the "Valle del Bove", having an ...

Video of Iceland volcano eruption, giant ash clouds from Grimsvotn

Iceland's imposed a flight ban and closed its main airport after the country's most active volcano, Grimsvotn, erupted. It lies under the uninhabited Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland and has been dormant for 7 years. A large plume of smoke and ash is stretching 20 km into the air. Iceland's Meteorological Office says that the eruption at the Grimsvotn volcano has been accompanied by a series of small earthquakes. Scientists have been expecting a new eruption and have said previously that this volcano's eruption will likely be small and should not lead to the air travel chaos caused in April 2010 by ash from the Eyjafjallajokul volcano. NASA SDO - Spectacular Prominence Eruption, June 7, 2011

The Sun unleashed an M-2 (medium-sized) solar flare with a substantial coronal mass ejection (CME) on June 7 that is visually spectacular. The large cloud of particles mushroomed up and fell back down looking as if it covered an area of almost half the solar surface. SDO observed the flare's peak at 1:41 AM EST. SDO recorded these images in extreme ultraviolet light and they show a very large explosion of cool gas. It is somewhat unique because at many places in the eruption there seems to be even cooler material -- at temperatures less than 80000K. When viewed in SOHO's coronagraphs, the event shows bright plasma and high-energy particles roaring from the Sun. This Earth-directed CME is moving at 1400 km/s according to NASA models. Due to its angle, however, effects on Earth should be fairly small. Nevertheless, it may generate space weather effects here on Earth in a few days. Credit: NASA SDO

Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get. Wish I had more time. I missed all the cool Lightning and the Lava of the first eruption. But I figure this will just be a trial run for another day. Minecraft - Erupting Volcano

This is another short video showing my erupting volcano project I made in Minecraft. To get the lava to float in the air, the lava streams were first created with glowstone. After it was all built, I used MCEdit to replace all the glowstone with the stationary lava block. This means the lava will not "flow" when you go back in the game, that is unless you place or destroy any block on the side of it. Mega Disasters- Yellowstone Volcano Super Eruption full documentary

The Yellowstone Caldera is the volcanic caldera located in Yellowstone National Park in the United States, sometimes referred to as the Yellowstone Supervolcano. The caldera is located in the northwest corner of Wyoming, in which the vast majority of the park is contained. The major features of the caldera measure about 34 miles (55 km) by 45 miles (72 km). Last eruption 70000 years ago (magmatic) / 1350 BC ± 200 years (explosive hydrothermal) ongoing (nonexplosive hydrothermal). Yellowstone, lies over a hotspot where light, hot, molten mantle rock rises towards the surface. While the Yellowstone hotspot is now under the Yellowstone Plateau, it previously helped create the eastern Snake River Plain (to the west of Yellowstone) through a series of huge volcanic eruptions. Although the hotspot's apparent motion is to the east-northeast, the North American Plate is really moving west-southwest over the stationary hotspot in the Earth's mantle. Over the past 17 million years or so, this hotspot has generated a succession of violent eruptions and less violent floods of basaltic lava. Together these eruptions have helped create the eastern part of the Snake River Plain from a once-mountainous region. At least a dozen of these eruptions were so massive that they are classified as supereruptions. Volcanic eruptions sometimes empty their stores of magma so swiftly that they cause the overlying land to collapse into the emptied magma chamber, forming a geographic depression called ...
