NASA video: Space shuttle Endeavour final launch

Endeavour blasted off on the next-to-last shuttle flight Monday morning under the command of Mark Kelly, the husband of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. The wounded congresswoman watched the launch in private from Kennedy Space Center. As many as 45000 guests jammed NASA's launch site. The crowd outside the gates was estimated to be in the tens of thousands, if not more. It was the second launch attempt. Late last month, an electrical problem halted the countdown. Endeavour and its six astronauts will arrive at the International Space Station on Wednesday. They are delivering a $2 billion particle physics experiment. The mission will last 16 days. Only one other shuttle trip remains.

Opportunity Rover Reaches Martian Crater on This Week @NASA

NASA's Mars Rover Opportunity has reached its next destination. Three years after climbing out of Victoria crater, Opportunity has completed an eleven-mile trek to the rim of Endeavour crater at a spot informally named "Spirit Point" after the rover's decommissioned twin. At 14 miles in diameter, Endeavour has ridges along its western rim that expose rock outcrops older than any Opportunity has seen so far. Endeavour

LMO recently recorded Endeavour - ITV's prequel to Inspector Morse with composer Barrington Pheloung. Endeavour, set in the 1960's, stars Shaun Evans as a younger Morse and is directed by Colm McCarthy. Barrington Pheloung used a 17 piece string section with flute, oboe, 2 clarinets, 2 horns, harp and guitar for the score which he also conducted at Abbey Road studio 1 with LMO which was led by Tom Bowes. During the session a Puccini aria was recorded with soprano Janis Kelly for a key scene in the film. Matt Slater assisted Barrington with score preparation and the session was engineered by Paul Golding. You can see Endeavour on ITV Player.

Behind the Scenes on Endeavour's Final Flight

Watch this and other space videos at SpaceRip.com You won't want this video to end. Go behind the scenes on the space shuttle Endeavour's final flight, and the second to the last flight in NASA's space shuttle program. It's also the final mission for the legendary shuttle commander, astronaut Mark Kelly, who is now retiring from NASA. Here's a little background. Endeavour was the fifth and final NASA space shuttle to be built, a replacement for the lost shuttle Challenger. Since 1992, it has successfully flown 25 missions, playing an instrumental role in servicing the Hubble Space Telescope and in the construction of the International Space Station. Among Endeavour's missions was the first to include four spacewalks, and then the first to include five. Its STS-67 mission set a length record almost two full days longer than any shuttle mission before it. Its airlock is the only one to have seen three spacewalkers exit through it for a single spacewalk. And in its cargo bay, the first two pieces of the International Space Station were joined together. On STS-134, Endeavor delivers a new, cutting edge science experiment to the space station the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer. It's a state-of-the-art, high energy particle physics experiment built in Geneva by a collaboration of 16 different countries. It will search for clues on what the universe is made of and how it began, the origin of dark matter, antimatter and strangelets, pulsars, blazers and gamma ray bursters. And ...

NASA video: Space shuttle Endeavour final landing

Space shuttle Endeavour and its six astronauts returned to Earth on Wednesday, ending the next-to-last mission in NASA's 30-year programme with a safe landing in the middle of the night. Bright lights illuminated the landing strip for the shuttle crew, who made the 25th night landing out of a total of 134 shuttle flights. Commander Mark Kelly brought Endeavour to a stop before hundreds of onlookers that included the four astronauts who will take flight in July on Atlantis, the last ever shuttle to go up in space.

Unique Video Shows Shuttle Endeavour at ISS

Newly released video shows the International Space Station together with the space shuttle, the vehicle that helped build the complex over the last decade. The video was shot by European Space Agency astronaut Paolo Nespoli from the Russian Soyuz spacecraft that undocked from the station on May 23. He, Russian cosmonaut Dmitry Kondratyev and NASA astronaut Cady Coleman were departing the station for a return to Earth after five months on the station. Nespoli documented the station from a distance of 600 feet as it was rotated 130 degrees.

Raw Video: The Endeavour Countdown and Liftoff - The Final Launch

The STS-134 crew led by Commander Mark Kelly are on their way to the International Space Station after launching from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 8:56 am EDT Monday, May 16 onboard the Spaceship Endeavour. The crew consists of Kelly, pilot Greg Johnson, mission specialists Mike Fincke, Drew Feustel, Greg Chamitoff and European Space Agency astronaut Roberto Vittori. They will deliver the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-2 (AMS) and critical supplies to the ISS including: two communications antennas, a high-pressure gas tank and additional parts for the Dextre robot. The AMS is a particle physics detector designed to search for various types of unusual cosmic matter. The crew also will transfer Endeavour's orbiter boom sensor system, where it could assist spacewalkers as an extension for the station's robotic arm. The STS-134 mission is the next-to-last for the Space Shuttle Program and the final one for shuttle Endeavour. Andre Matos - Endeavour

Endeavour The aftermath of disaster Strikes down to the Earth Time is life's destroyer A transitational mixing Connecting us all As we split forever in two And the wheels keep turning... Suspended in time As you glide through the air See your body below you Feelings no longer hurt No more fears within Let me fly together with you And the wheels keep turning... Stand forever in the rain Watch the sun Break through the sky If this world has let you down Take a leap to higher ground Cause your heart will never die! Conscience wakes to remind you The rule of the game There's no turning back now You'll become someone else Your perceptions will change Let me change forever with you And the wheels keep turning... Stand forever in the rain (... ) These nights of thunder Won't come back Just disappeared These nights of thunder, so dark Made visions become clear! Endeavour always Leads so far Beyond scene Endeavour always sows love... The struggle ends up here!

During the 14-day mission, Endeavour's six astronauts will deliver to the International Space Station the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, a particle physics detector designed to search for various types of unusual matter by measuring cosmic rays. The crew also will deliver the Express Logistics Carrier 3, a platform that carries spare parts that will sustain station operations once the shuttles are retired later this year. Endeavour's launch is targeted for April 19.
