Sir Elton John greets the 'Rocket Men'
This video was specially recorded during Sir Elton John's Million Dollar Piano Show in Las Vegas, on 17 April 2012, 40 years to the day after his single Rocket Man was released around the world. Continuing the celebration of ESA astronaut André Kuipers' music in space, British rock legend Sir Elton sent a special message to ESA, André and the crew of the ISS on the 40th anniversary of this classic song. Sir Elton said, "When I was a boy Dan Dare was a comic book hero, and space travel just a romantic idea, not a reality. I was 14 years old when Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space; my songwriting partner Bernie Taupin was just 11. Bernie and I did not meet until 1967, and two years after we met, Neil Armstrong became the first man to step on to the moon. "Our generation was smitten with the glory and excitement of space travel. 'Rocket Man' - and indeed 'Dan Dare' on the Rock of the Westies album - came from those boyhood dreams of travelling beyond the stars and looking back on Earth. "Not long after the Rocket Man single was released, my band and I were invited to the NASA headquarters in Texas and shown around by Al Worden, Apollo 15 command module pilot. Pepsi Unleashes Elton John, Melanie Amaro Super Bowl Ad
Well here it is. And it is quite the extravagant production. We like. Created by TBWA\Chiat\Day and titled King's Court, the ad features X Factor winner Melanie Amaro singing a version of Otis Redding's Respect recorded specifically for the ad to a kingly Elton John. The ad was directed by Noam Murro. Pepsi fans who Shazam the spot during the game will be able to view Amaro's music video for Respect.

I think thats pretty much it from what i can piece together. I cant wait for the forthcoming interviews and such that will surely accompany the release. I dont know many details, i think theyve 're-versioned' and cut up a few tracks from Elton Johns early 70's days. "High Flying Bird" was released on Elton John's sixth album, Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player, in late 1973. This was Elton's second straight #1 album in the US and yielded his first #1 single in both the US and Canada: "Crocodile Rock". "Daniel" was another huge hit from the album, though not quite reaching the heights of the first single. "High Flying Bird" has always been one of my favorite Elton John songs and has now become my 3rd detour (after "Curtains" and "Bite Your Lip (Get Up And Dance!)" from my video series I've been working on for the songs from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I wish I could complete my intended comprehensive work on that series before moving on to other Elton songs....but it's difficult as there are just so many Elton John tracks that are special to me...already playing with my next non-Goodbye Yellow Brick Road "distraction" ("Hard Luck Story")! But for those interested enough, I'm still planning on finishing the GBYBR project. I think Elton John is one of the most incredible musicians in history, his vocals and piano are extraordinary.
