Matina Stevis on Greek Elections, the Golden Dawn, and the End of an Era

Follow us @ twitter.com twitter.com Welcome to Capital Account. This weekend we saw elections in Europe - the most important occurring in France and Greece. Although the former resulted in the ousting of Nicolas Sarkozy, who has been at the helm in France since the beginning of this crisis, the latter is arguably more important as it has shaken the foundation of EU and IMF-led reforms in the deficit countries. Greece has been the poster child for the Eurozone crisis. Its economy has contracted significantly since the onset of the crisis, miring it in a deep depressionthat has resulted in untold hardship for a great mass of the people, violent riots, and intense anxiety about the future of the country. The party that has presided over the country from the onset of this economic and social depression has been PASOK, whose leadership has chosen to negotiate with the country's creditors, the IMF and the EU, rather than unilaterally default and exit the single currency union that is the Euro. This has become an increasingly unpopular stance in Greece, as the terms of both bailouts negotiated with its creditors have widely been seen as detrimental to the country's economic and political future, deflating the domestic economy and replacing the country's former prime minister with a technocrat and former central banker. Throughout this entire process, the country's leaders have avoided calls for new elections amidst popular anger directed increasingly at the 300 members of Greek ...

2012 Election RIGGED - This is going Viral (re-edit)

They are at it again. Just as they had rigged the Bush election, they are now doing the same against Ron Paul. However, we need to be careful, as they are hoping that we will have been conditioned and accustomed enough to accept rigged elections by now, we all need to stand up and get much more assertive this time around and be prepared to fight back harder than ever before.

Voter fraud plagues US elections?

This year millions of Americans will be heading to the polls to cast their vote for the next US president, but many are concerned that millions of votes could be thrown away come election night skewing the results. According to reports, 2.2 million votes were lost due to voter registration problems in 2008. We take a deeper look into why it may be tougher for Americans to cast their votes. Romney Crowds vs Ron Paul Crowds (Michigan Election 2012)

This is an example to show you that Congressman Ron Paul is much more electable than Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich. These are 2 different clips from Romney crowds in comparison of Ron Paul crowds in Michigan. Even though the news tells us that Romney is leading over Ron Paul, the crowds don't agree and looking at the past 3 states elections (Iowa, Nevada & Maine). If there is anything (say Dr. Paul losing by a ton of votes), it would be grounds to claim election fraud on the GOP. To be honest, the GOP should be called out anyway for voting fraud just by looking at the past elections. Election (trailer)

This film takes the scandals and mudslingings associated with presidential elections and transposes them to a high school election for student council president in Nebraska- with impossibly sharp, satirical results. Jim McAllister is a teacher who will stop at nothing to prevent perfect Tracy Flick, who is running unopposed, from winning the election. Jim, who bears a personal grudge against Tracy, goads a popular but dim football player into running against her. This spurs on a series of strange events (both madcap and surprisingly sexual), which add up to an uncommonly funny high school film for adults. imdb.com

euronews reporter - French elections: what's Y got to do with it?

www.euronews.com They are young, they are French and they are part of what is known as Generation Y. A generation less than 30 years old, they are said to number 13 million in France, or about one fifth of the population. They are also called digital natives - raised on the internet - they are connected, they are informed but they are also feeling increasingly sidelined by an older generation which they say does not help them when it comes to finding work, housing and overall responsibility. Ophelie Latil is 28 years old. She is about to finish a short-term work contract with little prospects of being hired full time. She also belongs to a movement called 'Generation Precaire' meaning "precarious generation". A generation she says is being increasingly sacrificed; paying not only for the economic crisis but for a retiring baby boom generation. "There's a sort of humiliation. The idea that we've studied, we've invested a lot, we've asked others to invest in us both financially and emotionally and we really believed what we were told in school or during our internships," said Ophelie. "They say 'You'll see, you will earn 40000 euros per year. A glorious future awaits you'. And it's only at the end that you realise that you're in debt, that you can't find somewhere to live, you can't find work and the only offers are internships, not even short-term contracts. The problem is that no one tells you that in France less than 10 percent of internships end up with a full work ...

He explains how he created a prototype for Florida Congressman Tom Feeny that would flip the vote 51%-49% in favor of a specified candidate. This happened all the way back in 2001 but you might not have heard anything about this claim unless you searched for it. I've seen a Wired News report on this topic and a few local Florida newspaper stories but otherwise, no real media coverage has been provided. Crazy, right? You'd think claims of election rigging software would be splattered all over the news in a sensationalist style a la Weinergate. But no, as it turns out, our news media prefers to point out voting fraud in other nations but not here at home. I'm not arguing in support of the claims Clinton Curtis makes and I'm not dismissing them. I'm merely pointing out that major news outlets did not cover this story ten years ago.
