EFL /ESL games

A variation of blind man's bluff for students learning English. The students have to be guided by team members in order to reach the front of the class. There are three rules; 1 - English only, otherwise your team has to stop for 10 seconds. 2 - Only the blindfolded person can move. 3- If you touch any obstacle, you have to wait for 10 seconds. If the class is very noisy and the blindfolded person can't hear instructions from their team mates then do it as a timed challenge and the best time wins.

Genki English: EFL / ESL Lesson Plan How to Teach English!

More details at; www.genkienglish.net Teaching Materials at genkienglish.net How to Teach English: 45 Minute Lesson Plan 1. Warm Up/Review - 3/10 minutes The idea is to get the kids back into a "Genki" way of learning, to get used to you again, to warm them up and to review the previous time's language. Start off with a quick go of the Warm Up game. Time depends on the class, from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. If they already know them, try a quick go of the lines game or the hammer game. Review the song from the previous lesson. They are singing and dancing and remembering the previous work all at the same time. The songs are quick, genki and get to the point! 2. New material - Picture cards and Song - 15/20 minutes New vocab A capella CD Using the Genki English songs to make it easy to introduce the new language, and for the kids to remember it. Use picture cards. Put upone, say the word and get the kids to say it back. Review often! After every 3 or 4 words, review the others. 8 words is a good quantity to teach in one lesson. Questions and answers are better (eg What's this? What time is it? or How much?) Say the question, point to a card and the kids answer. This is better than simply learning the vocab in isolation. Try tricking them by pointing to a card and saying a different question eg "What's your name?" To save time, try singing each word when introducing it. The melody and actions help the kids remember them more quickly. Plus when you've finished the words, they ...

Genki English ESL/EFL/TEFL Software: Digital Flashcards, Songs & Games

More at genkienglish.net Hello, I'm Richard Graham. And when I was a kid, I hated school. I found it sooooo boring... Then I spent 3 years teaching full-time in 3 Japanese schools. At first that was even worse. Students were sleeping, and not really learning anything. Just like it had for me, the traditional "chalk and talk" method of teaching was switching students off left, right and center. So I transformed my way of teaching, I listened to what the kids were really wanting to say and tried teaching it in ways they really wanted to learn. The results were magical. Just like you learn the lyrics to a favourite song or the latest baseball statistics, they learn Genki English because it's fun! AND WHEN IT'S FUN, IT BECOMES EASY TO LEARN NEW THINGS! That's where I found out my way of teaching had a name: "Genki", Japanese for "fun", "exciting" and "full of life". After a lot of success on TV, magazines and newspapers and helping other teachers become "Genki", in the year 2000 I founded GenkiEnglish.com and started making the Genki English Teacher's Packs. Now they are used by millions of students in dozens of countries. It really works. And it's really easy to teach! These days half of my time is spent being invited to give workshops and lectures for universities, education centers, boards of education, and schools around the world on how to really motivate students and get the best out of lessons using Genki English. You'll find videos and articles throughout the site ...

Moody Mondays - ESL / EFL Emotional English Lesson

The "listen and repeat" method makes for some pretty boring and robot-like responses from Korean ESL students so we made this video for our elementary school students to exemplify how to express different emotions using basic English. We filmed it Nutty Professor style in which I played every part and Amie's character (Mom) absorbed the emotions of whoever she was talking to . After watching their teachers acting completely insane on camera, they had to do a skit of their own using different emotions. The class was fun and a Great Success!!
