Clips include performances of "Je ne regret rien", "Les Compagnons de la Chansons" and "Milord". Montage also include some of Edith's great loves such as Marcel Cerdan, Jacques Pills and Theo Sarapo. Marlene Dietrich was her matron of honour on her wedding day. Crowds queue to pay homage. Her coffin at Pere Lachaise cemetery. Piaf died aged 47 from Liver Cancer in 1963. When the son of a recently deceased patient escapes from a German prisoner-of-war camp, Cavell aids him to reach Holland and safety. This leads to Cavell, a local noblewoman, the grandmother of the escaped prisoner-of-war, and others to form an organization to help Belgian, French, English and other soldiers escape as well. Eventually the Germans become aware of what's happening and take action.

All in the Family - Too Good Edith
...by request, here are the final moments from the All in the Family episode "Too Good Edith" as aired on April 9, 1979 In the series final episode, Archie is so busy prepping for a big St. Patricks Day party at the bar that he doesn't realize Edith is really sick. She's suffering from phlebitis and needs to stay off her feet. Instead, due to Archie's insistance (and ignorance) she pushes herself by cooking all the food for his big St. Patty's Day party, nearly crippling herself in the process. The final moments in this episode are very touching and perfectly illustrate the relationship that existed underneath between these two classic television characters. The show would be retooled and return in the Fall of 1979 as "Archie Bunkers Place" with Jean Stapleton making a handful of appearances in that following season.

Piaf dedicated her recording of the song to the French Foreign Legion.At the time of the recording, France was engaged in a military conflict, the Algerian War (1954--1962), and the 1st REP (1st Foreign Parachute Regiment) — which backed a temporary putsch of 1961 by the French military against the civilian leadership of Algeria — adopted the song when their resistance was broken. The leadership of the Regiment was arrested and tried but the non-commissioned officers, corporals and Legionnaires were assigned to other Foreign Legion formations. They left the barracks singing the song, which has now become part of the French Foreign Legion heritage and is sung when they are on parade.

Archie Bunkers Place - Archie Alone
Here are the final minutes of this classic episode from 11/2/80. Originally aired as a one hour special, Archie is having understandable difficulty coping with the death of his beloved Edith. It is not until the final moments of this episode that he breaks down. Jean Stapleton appeared in 6 episodes of the first season of Archie Bunkers Place. With the majority of the action shifting to the bar and her desire to move on to other projects, Jean left the series. Instead of continuing the show with off camera stories of Edith, O'Connor and the producers felt it would be a good opportunity to give the character of Edith a proper and poignant farewell. The scene speaks for itself. Caroll O'Connor received a Peabody Award for his performance in this episode and rightly so. It's still as emotional as it was when it first aired almost 30 years ago.
