from album Crying over pros for no reason. Before he was edIT, indie hip-hop artist Edward Ma began his career in the late '90s as the Con Artist. During his stint as the resident DJ at Konkrete Jungle Los Angeles, Ma worked with Hive, Daddy Kev, James Tai, Busdriver, PEACE, and Mikah 9; he also hosted a regular program on Dublab Radio. When not performing, Ma acted as producer and engineer for other musicians such as Sole, the aforementioned Busdriver, Aloe Blacc, Emanon, and Dr. OOP under the Con Artist moniker. The name was retired in 2003 and replaced with edIT while Ma was completing his first solo album. In 2004, Crying Over Pros for No Reason was released on the Planet-Mu label. Rather than rest on his laurels, Ma continued to explore his craft, creating remixes and mashups that gained him further recognition in the world of electronic music. Fans and fellow DJs weren't the only ones to take notice -- in 2006, Urb magazine named Ma one of their "Next 100" artists to watch. Certified Air Raid Material, the follow-up to Crying Over Pros for No Reason, was released in the autumn of 2007. Outside of his work as edIT, Ma has created ad music and jingles for Face the Music. These compositions have appeared in commercials for Scion, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Calvin Klein, among others.

About: Born and bred in Weston, Massachussetts, Edward Ma, now known to the world as edIT, began his music career as The Con Artist just before the turn of the millennium. As a resident DJ at the now defunct Konkrete Jungle Los Angeles, he shared the stage with Hive, Daddy Kev, James Tai and mic rockers Busdriver, PEACE and Mikah 9. Konkrete Jungle marked the golden age of indie hip-hop in Los Angeles, and was the bridge between the jungle and b-boy massives. During this time, he also held a residency at Dublab Radio. He was one of the very first Dublab DJs and broadcasted two weekly shows from the legendary Melrose Avenue studio. Far ahead of its time, Dublab operated as an internet radio station and served as a unifying force for the melting pot of LAs intellectual DJ culture. During this musical renaissance, edIT used The Con Artist name to produce and engineer for the likes of Sole (Anticon), Busdriver (Epitaph), Aloe Blacc (Stones Throw), Emanon (Shaman Work), and Dr. Oop (Black Love). Welcome back to another spectacular week of Edit This! Unfortunately, as you may already know, this week was delayed by quite a long time. I claim responsibility because I have been out every weekend since Week 16, and have returned home in no state to be sitting in front of a computer (if you catch my drift). These episodes take hours to make, and a great deal of effort! Audacity is a very easy piece of software to use. It makes editing music and sound a pleasure. The first thing you learn in this Audacity tutorial is how to open an existing recording. It is as simple as drag and drop the MP3, WAV, etc. onto the Audacity window. When you are ready to remove some sound from a recording you need to select the sound by holding your mouse button and sliding over that sound. Once you have the sound selected, to delete the sound you just hit your delete key on your computer's keyboard. If there is a section of your music you would like to zoom in on you just need to select it with your mouse and click the 'fit selection to window' button in Audacity. If you find a button you are unfamiliar with you just need to hover your mouse over it and its name will appear after a couple of seconds. It is simple to fade out a sound recording in Audacity.
