The Most Advanced Quadruped Robot on Earth BigDog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics family of robots. It is a quadruped robot that walks, runs, and climbs on rough terrain and carries heavy loads. BigDog is powered by a gasoline engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. BigDog's legs are articulated like an animal's, and have compliant elements that absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next. BigDog is the size of a large dog or small mule, measuring 1 meter long, 0.7 meters tall and 75 kg weight. BigDog has an on-board computer that controls locomotion, servos the legs and handles a wide variety of sensors. BigDog's control system manages the dynamics of its behavior to keep it balanced, steer, navigate, and regulate energetics as conditions vary. Sensors for locomotion include joint position, joint force, ground contact, ground load, a laser gyroscope, and a stereo vision system. Other sensors focus on the internal state of BigDog, monitoring the hydraulic pressure, oil temperature, engine temperature, rpm, battery charge and others. So far, BigDog has trotted at 3.3 mph, climbed a 35 degree slope and carried a 120 lb load. BigDog is being developed by Boston Dynamics with help from Foster Miller, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the Harvard University Concord Field Station.Development is funded by the DARPA Defense Sciences Office.

DAHAB, EGYPT - UNDATED: MILLIONS of people around the world were left stunned when a video of Lena Fokina doing 'baby yoga' broke on the internet. The 51-year-old Russian was filmed spinning and flipping babies above her head and behind her back in such an outlandish fashion that several websites banned the footage for glorifying what to many would be considered child abuse. In fact, the moves were so shocking that most conceded they were being performed on a doll as no sane person would consider them acceptable. However, we tracked Lena down to a seminar called "Parenting the Deliberate Way" in Dahab, Egypt, where parents from across Europe were paying her to perform the same moves on their infants, some just a few months old. But Lena, who is a qualified PE teacher in her native Russia, insists the practice is totally safe and actually beneficial to children.

Force Dynamics 401 video 1 - LFS
This is the Force Dynamics 401 motion platform. It has four axes - roll, pitch, heave (vertical) and yaw. The 180 degrees of yaw allow the machine to closely track the car's rotation, which lets you feel exactly how the car is moving and where it is on track. In this video, a fairly powerful (~1100lbs, 450hp) car was set up 'loose' with little grip to accentuate the rotation capability of the machine. AlphaDog Proto
The AlphaDog Proto is a lab prototype for the Legged Squad Support System, a robot being developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from DARPA and the US Marine Corps. When fully developed the system will carry 400 lbs of payload on 20-mile missions in rough terrain. The first version of the complete robot will be ready in 2012. This video shows early results from the lab where we are developing the control systems and locomotion platform. This lab prototype is powered remotely. AlphaDog will draw power from an internal combustion engine, which we designed to be 10x quieter than BigDog. The field version of AlphaDog will have a sensor head packed with terrain sensors. Force Dynamics 401CR - Introduction
This is the 401CR. Unlike the regular 401, which can rotate 180 degrees, the CR can spin continuously, like a record on a turntable (does anyone remember those?). This allows it to replicate car rotation with a 1:1 ratio, and no 'washout' - the inverse motion required to prevent limited-rotation simulators from running out of room. The two PCs that run the simulation and platform control are on board the simulator, under the steps. We use extra bracing for the video cards, and SSD drives rather than rotating media; an onboard WiFi access point provides internet connectivity to the onboard computers, and a Gefen wireless HD video transmitter and wireless USB keyboard/mouse allow direct control of the machine via a remote station with only a monitor and the extender box, rather than a complete PC. We're working on getting more information up on our web site now; in the mean time, enjoy the video!

Magpul Dynamics Carbine 1 -Raw Footage- BCM 11.5" AR15
This was a real fun video to make, with no real focus on any one thing from the carbine class, just a collection of almost all the raw footage I had from my Magpul Dynamics Carbine 1 Course from last October, 2009 in Houston, TX. At least for now, you can get all the info about this particular class I attended from my other 2 Magpul carbine course videos. Here's some info from one of those other videos: The class was a blast and was the 2nd carbine course I've completed. If you like running your carbine hard and love to train, I'd highly recommend looking into taking a Magpul Dynamics course. All of their instructors know their shit, and added up altogether have many deployments and actual time on the gun in combat under their belts. I was running my BCM 11.5" upper with BCM bolt carrier group and Gunfighter charging handle (mod 03, Large), the Knight's Armament Company URX II rail with the integrated front flip up sight, KAC 600m micro rear folding BUIS, Aimpoint Micro T-1 red dot sight in Larue Tactical QD Tall mount, and KAC Triple Tap muzzle brake, on a KAC SR-15 E3 registered SBR lower. Accessories on the gun were Magpul CTR stock, MS2 sling, MIAD, XTM rail covers, and Larue Tactical QD FUG vertical fore-grip. It runs like a sewing machine with anything you feed it. I love this carbine.
