My first video ever. Almost 4 years ago. I went outside and walked around my street. I used windows movie maker and didn't even bother to use any special fonts. I worked hard on this but I made it when I was 12. Today, I'm 16 and use professional video editing software and do my best to make sure my videos look professional, crisp, clean, and most importantly bring the Gospel message. Please enjoy my first video and I hope you read the lyrics and soak the words in. This song means a lot to me in my life. There have been times I've drifted away from the Lord. Hurley and Warner Bros. Records are teaming up to release the much-anticipated autobiographical surf movie about Rob Machado, The Drifter. The film will have a limited theatrical release and will also be available on DVD. The Drifter is directed by Poor Specimen's Taylor Steele. Word on the street is that The Drifter was shot entirely in high-definition. Rob Machado and Taylor Steele spent over six months in Indonesia collecting footage for the film. As Indo is home to some of the world's greatest waves, it is not far-flung to believe that the world's most famous soul surfer had the surf trip of a lifetime. But the movie goes beyond that, The Drifter also documents Rob's search for life's deeper meaning. The surf trip ends up taking him on a soul-searching journey where he eventually finds himself in Indonesia's outermost reaches with nothing but a surfboard, his journal and a tent. Ray Pollard - The Drifter
Ray Pollard's "The Drifter" was one of the most beloved records of all time to the entire Northern Soul scene, even though it wasn't strictly speaking true Northern Soul, being more of a Sixties beat ballard. It was all because the late lamented Les Cokell always claimed it was his all time favourite record, so much so that, rather morbidly, his copy of it was buried with his ashes, when he died in 1996. Ray Pollard started out with The Wanderers on Savoy, then on Decca, Onyx, Cub, MGM, and finally on United Artists, where Ray then went solo and recorded "The Drifter" and "Its a Sad Thing". He then signed to Eddie Singleton's Shrine Label, and released one single "No More Like Me". He then signed to Decca for two singles, and then joined the Joe Cuba Sextet in 1972, and also had one last solo single, on the Omnipotent label, in 1973. He became aware of his Northern Soul following, and made a couple of visits to England. In 1999, my dear friend Ralph Tee went to Las Vegas, and we rerecorded him doing "The Drifter", and filmed it in a huge trucking area, with Ray even dressed as a Drifter. I needed it for my mega-documentary, "The Strange World Of NorthernSoul" as a tribute to Les Cokell, who had been the main DJ who first pioneered the Northern Soul Scene as we know it today. CRKT Drifter: $17 Performer!
Get a great EDC blade for $17? Yes, it's possible. I've covered some other great options in TNP "knife show" but now you can add the excellent CRKT Drifter to the mix. As of 2009, this blade is offered in either a stainless steel framelock or lighter weight G10 version. Featuring a 2.9 inch 8Cr14Mov blade, the knife has proven itself as a good EDC utility knife in my carry. Disappointingly, the out-of-box edge for both knives is embarrassingly dull and it will need some sharpening TLC to bring it to life. But the slight recurve and good belly in the blade shape offer good cutting ability despite perhaps the somewhat thick blade stock. Other upsides include fast deployment, tight lockup, good looks, excellent fit and finish, pillar construction, purposeful jimping, strong pocket clip, and (with the SS version) a very strong lock. Some downsides will include heavier carry weights compared to the competition (3.2 oz SS, 2.4 oz G10) and a non-transferrable pocket clip stuck in the (ugh) tip-down carry configuration. Nevertheless, it's impressive to have two handle options in this affordable little blade and even more impressive that both come in under $20 (subject to change of course!). /////////////////// Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 7 out of 10
