Jack and I were able to get married on July 15th, 2009. I am now a citizen of Finland as well as America. We are both going to college and getting work. At the time, the donations I received peaked at about $1500 which helped me greatly in getting my flight over to Finland to begin with. Once school and the apartment were paid for, the remaining funds went into fixing my computer. It couldn't have happened without everyone's help, and videos such as Survivor episode 5 wouldn't even exist. During my time at school, I've come to enjoy making original comics as opposed to Resident Evil Musicals. But I haven't given up on them completely. I've just been cramped for time, they take very long to make, and I need to practice drawing with MS Paint again. Someday, I will do a video again though. Did you donate any money to Haiti after the earthquake? Have you donated money to Pakistan to help victims of the floods there? A lot of people can answer yes to the first question, but not so many to the second. What was it about these floods that stopped people dipping into their pockets? We have seen wide shots of saturated fields, families trapped on crudely fashioned lifeboats, villagers left homeless, starving and without clean drinking water. But even with all this we have not been nearly as charitable as we were after the earthquake in Haiti. On The Listening Post this week, we ask: What is about the images of this disaster that fail to evoke the same compassion that others have done? Two of Hawai'i's largest clinical testing companies have pitched in to save the only professional training program in the field of medical technology in the state. State budget cuts threatened to eliminate the medical technology training program at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa's John A. Burns School of Medicine. The school stopped taking new students into the program. Diagnostic Laboratory Services and Clinical Laboratories of Hawai'i donated more than $100000 to the program. The medical school is partnering with Kapi'olani Community College, too. Students can spend their first two years at Kapi'olani Community College's medical lab technician program. They can then spend another two years to earn a Bachelor of Science medical technology degree at the John A. Burns School of Medicine. UH medical school Dean Jerris Hedges said that the donations will ensure that there will be a continuous flow of trained technicians to work in Hawai'i's medical technology field. Medical technologists are vital in the health care industry. They draw blood and help perform tests in laboratories and hospitals around the state. The UH medical school's medical technology students have passed national board certification tests with scores of 100% for the last few years, significantly above the national average of about 80%.
