Noisy kittens waiting for dinner!
7 week old fostered kittens waiting on their dinner being prepared. They had been ill with cat flu and were just starting to get their appetite back. Because of their condition I had to chop their food finely and then add water and their medication to it. Once they were old enough and healthy enough the kittens were eventually re-homed in pairs to two loving families. They were never purposely starved for our entertainment - Cats can be very impatient and demanding!

By the time you get to the gravy making stage, you will be frazzled, everyone will be hungry and all we want is something delicious and quick. Here's how. Ingredients: * 2 onions finely chopped * 2 tsp cornflower * 1 cup turkey juices from under cooked turkey * Turkey/chicken gravy granules (Yes, really!) Method: 1. Pour turkey fat into a saucepan, add onions and gently sauté for 8 minutes. 2. Add cornflower and stir in thoroughly. 3. Make up the gravy granuules stock and slowly pour 1½ parts gravy stock into saucepan, stirring continuously. 4. Let it cook for 5 minutes then whisk (use an electric one if you have it) until smooth and glossy. 5. Transfer to hot jug for serving. Christmas Dinner Recipe: Bread Sauce - Always a popular accompaniment to roast turkey, if only for lovely aromatic fug it sends up Ingredients: * 1 lt milk * 1 nutmeg -- ½ whole, ½ grated. * 10 cloves * 2 red onions * 2 bay leaves * 250g breadcrumbs * 30g butter * 1 dollop of double cream * Salt and pepper Method: 1. Peel and cut onions in half and stud with cloves. 2. Place milk, nutmeg, onion and bay leaves into saucepan and season with salt and pepper. 3. Bring to the boil then remove from heat and allow to infuse in a warm place for 3-4 hours. 4. Later strain the liquid. 5. Stir breadcrumbs into strained milk and add ¾ of the butter. 6. Put sauce on a low heat, stirring occasionally until bread crumbs swell up and the sauce mixture thickens. 7. Remove from heat and stir in cream. 8. Pour into serving bowl and dot with butter. Noreen's Kitchen: What's for Dinner? Stuffed Italian Shells
Greetings! Tonight I am making some stuffed Italian shells. I was recently asked if I had a good recipe for these by a subscriber. This is similar to how my mom made them but I have added the spinach and the Portabello mushrooms. My mushrooms were some that I had dehydrated this past summer. I got them for 50 cents a package on the vegetable clearance rack and that was a deal that was too good to pass up. I have lots of dehydrated mushrooms so I may as well use them. I re-hyrated them in about 2 cups of boiling water and then squeezed them dry and chopped them, I also thawed a frozen box of chopped spinach and then squeezed it dry though a colander and some paper towels. This dish may take a little bit of preparation and effort, but in the end, you will have a lovely meal you made yourself and you won't have to buy the frozen stuffed shells. You never know what they put in that stuff anyway. Eat these by themselves or along with some sausage or meatballs and a salad and some bread and you have a great home cooked meal. This recipe actually makes enough to fill two of the foil pans that I used. I put the extra shells in a pan, stuffing side up without any sauce and placed them in the freezer until they were solid. The next day I took them out of the pan and placed them in a zip top freezer bag for easier storage. The next time I need a quick meal on a busy night, all I have to do is place those frozen shells in a pan with some sauce and some cheese and toss a salad and ...
