Robert Stolz himself is known as the last composer of the classical viennese aera. He was the one who knew best how a Strauss waltz has to be arranged and how the orchestra has to play it. That's why I adore this recording so much! It's 100% authentic and even the Vienna Philharmonics won't do it better. I had to shorten the track coz it was longer than 10 minutes. The intro has been removed. "Auf dem Wasser zu spielen" can be considered from three angles: the anecdotal, the musical and, unusually for me, the political. Nestling in the Bavarian Alps, a few miles from the Austrian border, lies the picturesque holiday resort of Berchtesgaden. Just outside the town, on the romantic Königssee, electrically-powered tourist boats silently ply the placid waters and in mid-voyage their guides astonish the passengers by silencing the engines, producing a trumpet, directing its bell towards the distant Jägerstein, and coaxing a set of resounding canonic echoes from the surrounding hills. The effect is spell-binding, like a real-life Mahler symphony. To reproduce this echo effect musically I have made use of a pair of digital delay devices connected in series, which yield three echoes of the solo trumpet part diffused spatially around the auditorium. In addition there is a tape part which contains much material of an overtly referential nature appropriate to the scene evoked: furthermore, there is a certain amount of stylistic reference to one or two clichés of late romantic Austro-German music in the nature of the thematic material itself. Dances with Wolves is a very beautiful movie based on a novel by Michael Blake. It is directed by Kevin Costner who also played the leading role of John Dunbar. Lieutenant John Dubar accidentally becomes a hero when he leads his troops to a victory during the American Civil War. After that, he requests to be placed on a post on the western frontier in Dakota territory. When he comes there the place appears to be abandoned. While waiting for other soldiers to come, he becomes friends with a wolf who he named "Two Socks". After a while Indians show up, but they do not kill him. Dunbar quickly makes friends with the tribe, and discovers a white woman " Stands with a fist" (Mary McDonnell) who was raised by the Indians. He gradually earns the respect of these native people, and falls in love with "Stands with a fist". Because there are still no other soldiers, he leaves his post and starts to live with the Indians. Not soon after, the frontier becomes the frontier no more, and the army advances on the plains. When they find out he is a "traitor", they go after him and the tribe. Johann Strauss (germană Johann Strauß) (n. 25 octombrie 1825 în St.Ulrich, azi parte a Vienei - d. 3 iunie 1899, Viena) a fost un compozitor austriac, fiul lui Johann Strauß (tatăl). Regisseur Phil Lord konnte sich vor 21 Jump Street durch den Animationsfilm Wolkig mit Aussicht auf Fleischbällchen auszeichnen.
