To turn them off, "Annotations" to the left of CC ************************************************************************ I hit a buck (had 2+ in. antlers) on my 04 GSXR 1000, which is the best looking year, on June 28, 2009. I did not crash, but the bike was totaled. It literally jumped right in front of me (about 10 feet at most) and I had no time to react! While editing this vid, the deer was only on cam for 6 frames which is 6/30 or 1/5 of a sec! I think the momentum from accelerating out of the corner is what saved me, along with the fact that I hit it while it was still in mid-air. There were many factors that kept me on 2 wheels and I can't say whether I was lucky because I didn't die or unlucky it even happened. Not only did I not crash, but there was no car coming the other way to kill me when I crossed over. I rode it for another 45 mins until I had to shut it off to prevent engine damage because the radiator was busted. It was also amazing that none of the riders following closely behind me hit the unpredictable, spinning deer! There were 10 riders in front of me and about 10 behind. Speed was only a factor for who hit it, not whether or not it would have been hit. I survived with not a scratch. My family bottle fed the baby, named Theen until he was eating grass. Several months later he's very socialized with people, our black lab, and our cats. He is free to wander if he likes and we've seen him with several herds of whitetail and axis deer. Apparently he fits in just fine with them. He frequently comes back to the house to eat some catfood and play with our dog, Buddy. He doesn't care much for deer corn. Ellen Degeneres showed this video on her show and website on January 22, 2010! Anderson Cooper 360 showed the video on March 30, 2010! This was on the Bonnie Hunt show on March 31, 2010! This buck doesn't know he is supposed to be a vegetarian! Birds were flying in and running into the head of this young buck in our front yard. I was watching through the window, and I did'nt know why the birds were attacking him. Then, I saw the little bird on the ground. The other birds had only been trying to distract the deer. I decided not to exchange the audio with music because when I played the video back, I realized my overly dramatic reaction was funny. Yes, I know I have a country accent. A raccoon came into the yard in the daytime, and we threw some organic corn chips on the lawn for him. A few minutes later the deer showed up, and the raccoon ran up a tree - for a few moments. Just as the raccoon was brave enough to head for the chips, the deer noticed the chips. The deer are used to grazing on the clover flowers and leaves in our lawn, and liked the uncommon chip bonanza. After the raccoon ate his chips, the deer decided they didn't want him anymore on what they consider the "deer's lawn." Both types of animals appear to graze in a north-south direction that aligns with magnetic north, not geographic north, according to European researchers who scrutinized thousands of Google Earth images. Birds, turtles, and fish are known to use magnetic guidance in migration. And among small mammals, a handful of rodent and one bat species have been shown to possess a magnetic compass. Sabine Begall, a zoologist at the University of Duisburg in Essen, Germany, and her colleagues propose that large mammals may also sense Earth's magnetic field. But why the nonmigrating animals would align themselves according to Earth's magnetism is still a mystery.
