On the afternoon of April 22th, a large oil slick began to spread from the former rig site, and today this disaster is the largest offshore spill in US history. Estimates vary as to how much oil is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, but experts agree that it is between 50000 and 150000 barrels of oil per day. On May 19th, scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and elsewhere stated that oil had reached the Loop Current. By June 4th, the oil spill had landed on 125 miles of Louisiana's coast, washed up along Mississippi and Alabama barrier islands, and was found for the first time on a Florida barrier island at Pensacola Beach. The greatest concern has been that severe weather, as we enter hurricane season, might push the oil inland and over a far wider area, simultaneously rendering many clean-up and wildlife rescue operations useless or redundant. Deep Water Trailer
Here is the trailer for Deep Water. I didn't actually make the trailer, but I did the online for the feature film. I just thought I'd put the trailer up as an example of my work. I did the conform and graded all of the scenes of the ship's log. In addition, I had to re-touch nearly all of the graphics (I won't say they were crap, but there were serious issues with their quality). My official credit is "conform" because I didn't want to offend the graphics company or Stuart (who graded the bulk of the film) by asking for a credit that implied that I did their job. I did my part on the DS Nitris working from 2k .dpx files of the source footage, HDCAM of the interviews and HDD5 upres of the SD archives.

This is a tribute to the 11 men missing from the Deepwater Horizon. I did not make this video but I did feel it needed to be up for the world to see. Oilfield workers catch a bad wrap but most don't understand it is a way of life for us and once in a while some of our brothers pay the ultimate sacrifice. Chevy Rescues Ford Pickup in Deep Water, Grayland, Washington
It was about 1:00 PM today 7/17/2010 when a driver and 3 passengers were traveling south on the Grayland beach. About 5 miles south of Westport. It is legal to drive on the uppermost part of the wet sand on the beach in Grayland. They were traveling along the surf line when they drove out onto a sand spit. The driver drove off the sand spit into a deep trench caused by tidal action. The impact was vilant enought to send one passenger to the hospital with a non- life threatining head injury. She was treated by Grayland Fire Department and South Beach EMS then transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The male driver and two other female passengers were uninjured other than being very cold and wet. A very dedicated tow truck operator, Justin Jones with South Beach Towing raced to the scene and quickly got to work. Justin along with the driver of the pickup waded shoulder deep threw the cold salt water, to connect a tow rope to the Ford Diesel Pickup and pulled the rope with a South Beach Towing pickup breaking the strong suction of the soft sand holding the partially submereged vehical in place. Once the suction of the sand was releaved the pickup began to float as water rushed up the hood and icechests floated about the back of the pickup. Justin Jones, the tow truck operator worked hard to get the Ford to dry land however he estimates that the diesel pickup will be a total loss. A Washington State Park Officer stated that the driver will be issued a citation however ...
