For a complete lesson on multiplying decimals, go to www.yourteacher.com - 1000+ online math lessons featuring a personal math teacher inside every lesson! In this lesson, students learn to multiply decimals in the same way that one would multiply whole numbers (vertically). However, at the end of the problem, students must determine where the decimal goes in the answer by counting the total number of digits to the right of the decimal point in the original numbers, then placing the decimal point in the answer so that the answer has this same total number of digits to the right of the decimal point. For example, after multiplying 1.05 x 7.4, since there are a total of 3 digits to the right of the decimal point in the original numbers, place the decimal point in the answer so that there are 3 digits to the right of the decimal point.

How To Divide Decimals
SALE TODAY: Learn Piano on iOS bit.ly In this video, Mahalo math expert Julie Clark explains how to divide with decimals in the divisor and dividend. How to Divide Decimals --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dividing with decimals can seem difficult at first, but it's important to treat them like any other long division problem. For example, use this problem: First set up the problem as you would any other long division equation. Now you need to remove the decimal point from the divisor. Do this by moving it to the right until the divisor is a whole number (14).Do the same thing to the dividend by moving its decimal point to places to the right (44.8).Now place the decimal point directly above the division sign.Continue solving the problem using normal long division until you find your answer.14 goes into 44 three times with a remainder of two. Place the three on the left side of the decimal point in the answer area. Subtract 42 (three multiplied by 14) from 44 to get 2. Then bring down the eight to get 28. Now divide that number by 14 to get 2. Put the two on the right side of the decimal and you can see that the final answer is 3.2. Read more by visiting our page at: www.mahalo.com
Subtracting Decimals - YourTeacher.com - Math Help
For a complete lesson on subtracting decimals, go to www.yourteacher.com - 1000+ online math lessons featuring a personal math teacher inside every lesson! In this lesson, students learn to subtract decimals by first lining up the decimal points, then subtracting the numbers by column. For example, to subtract 9.514 -- 1.6, first line up the decimal points, then subtract the digits the thousandths column, to get 4 - 0, or 4, then subtract the digits in the hundredths column, to get 1 -- 0, or 1, then subtract the digits in units column, by borrowing a 1 from the 9 in the units column (which leaves an 8 in the units column), to get 15 -- 6, or 9, then subtract the digits in the units column, to get 8 -- 1, or 7. So 9.514 -- 1.6 = 7.914.

Learn Fractions - How to Convert Fractions into Decimals
SALE TODAY: Learn Piano on iOS bit.ly Mahalo math expert Julie Clark explains how to convert fractions into decimals. Method #1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- One method of converting a fraction into a decimal is dividing the fraction's numerator (the top number) by its denominator (the bottom number). Example --------------------------------------------------------------------- If you want to convert 3/8 into a decimal, divide 3 by 8.1. Because 8 can't go into 3, you have to add a zero to 3, making it 30. You can do this by adding a decimal point to 3, then adding a 0. Add the decimal point on the top.2. 8 goes into 30 3 times, because 8 x 3 = 24. Place the 3 right after the decimal point.3. 30 - 24 = 6.Because 8 can't go into 6, you have to add a zero to 6, making it 60. You can do this by adding another 0 after 3.0, then bringing the 0 down to right after the 6.8 goes into 60 7 times, because 7 x 8 = 56. Place the 7 right after the 3.4. 60 - 56 = 4. Because 8 can't go into 4, you have to add a zero to 4, making it 40. You can do this by adding another 0 after 3.00, then bringing the 0 down to right after the 4. 8 goes into 40 5 times, because 5 x 8 = 40. Place the 5 right after the 7.5. 40 - 40 = 0, so there is nothing left over. The answer is 0.375. Thus, the fraction 3/8 is equal to the decimal 0.375. Method #2 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Find an equivalent fraction where the ...
