"Neverland" by The dB's
ThedBs.com is pleased to present the premiere of the "Neverland" music video. The footage was shot in 1982 by Phil Marino, who used some of the stills for the cover of Like This. However, the footage languished, The dB's lost touch with Phil, and before you could say "Super 8" a quarter century had gone by. In no small coincidence, Jake Gorst, filmmaker and creator in 2001 of The dB's Online, knew Phil Marino, although neither knew of the other's connection to The dB's until Jake suddenly realized and asked Phil. The repercussions were enormous. Through this happenstance not only were The dB's reunited with Phil, but he donated quite a bit of material to the band's archives, including the footage before you now. The band has had its ups and downs since way back then, but nothing is wrong with waiting for quality. Jake has edited the pieces together with Phil's blessing and as originally intended. It's at once ancient history and brand new. Like a vintage clothing store, or 1936 Chateau Lafite Rothschild. We sure were skinny... Will Rigby June 2008

In my opinion the Aston Martin DBS is one of the best sounding cars, the red DBS is totally stock and the black DBS has a Quicksilver exhaust installed! THE DB'S Judy (1981)
album : Stands for Decibels extra track Along with Let's Active, the dB's defined the Southern power pop/jangle pop movement of the early to mid-'80s. The band's music was a quirky blend of smart pop and psychedelia crossed with the more experimental side of new wave. Though they never received widespread recognition outside of critical acclaim, they provided a key link between Big Star and '80s alternative guitar acts such as REM Formed in 1978 in Winston-Salem, NC, the original lineup of the band featured Chris Stamey (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Gene Holder (bass), and Will Rigby (drums). All three members had spent time in Stamey's legendary group, the Sneakers, a group he co-founded with Mitch Easter. After relocating to New York, the dB's released their debut single, "(I Thought) You Wanted to Know," for Stamey's Car label. Guitarist/vocalist/keyboardist Peter Holsapple, who had worked with Stamey in the band Rittenhouse Square in the early '70s, joined the band by the end of 1978. Holsapple and Stamey shared the songwriting chores during the band's early years. The dB's were unable to secure a US recording contract, so they signed to the British Albion label. They released two albums on Albion: Stands for Decibels (1981) and Repercussion (1982). Both records received rave reviews but little sales. Stamey left in 1983 to resume a solo career.

Cycles Per Second - the dB's
The appearance was taped a few days before its March 7, 1981 broadcast. The city was London, UK. The show was a national broadcast on the nation's largest network. Three top-notch performances, one by each songwriter and with an instrumental thrown in. The dB's road manager on the tour, Dave Boxall, added genitalia to the show's logo of a performer's silhouette. This is clearly visible on the left of the screen. On "Big Brown Eyes" Will wore a pair of gag glasses with eyeballs on springs that bounce all over the place. Not so clearly visible. The eyeballs only came in blue, and Albion's publicist painted the irises brown. (Too bad they couldn't get the eyes to come out brown on the single sleeve!)

Construction Video of Geodesic Dome @ DBS
This was a Mathematics project my classmates and I decided to work on when we were in Grade 10 at Diocesan Boys' School, a local high school in Hong Kong. With a limited budget we decided to use PVC tubes (ie narrow water pipes) and some plastic circles to serve as joints. We cut the pipes by ourselves to the precise length so that when they fit together they can form a curvature. We started building from the top so that we could lift up the dome as we build, thus no ladders or other tools were needed. As it was the first time we tried to build it it took us about 3-4 hours to complete the construction (even the camera ran out of battery D:). Thanks must be given to our school for giving us such support to work on this project. Hope you enjoy this video and please do comment or give any new ideas!
