Dartmouth's Passion for Snow - Clip
Dartmouth's Passion for Snow will be highlighted towards the end of 2012 in a full length documentary film, produced by Lisa Densmore '83 with support from leading movie makers Rick Moulton, Roger Cotton Brown '57, Jim Butterworth T'91 and many others. This short teaser clip illustrates a portion of the final film that will be premiered in the East (Hanover, NH; October 2012) and the West (Vail, CO; December 2012) with expected play at selected film festivals and on PBS/other cable channels. The story to be told will highlight one of Dartmouth's greatest achievements as an institution. It will show how Dartmouth College, its 3 graduate schools and the local community in the Hanover NH area have made many snow related contributions to the world we live in today, including being the preeminent force in the development of the modern skiing industry which is over twice the size of a business giant like Microsoft. The elements to be covered range from the snow related tales of Ted Geisel '25 (aka Dr. Seuss) and Bob May '26 (creator of the christmas story involving Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer) to the initiation of college ski racing/ski teams/race techniques and the creation of the first ski lifts to the leadership of the first US Mountain troops (the 10th Mt. Division in WW II) to the founding and management of most major US Ski Areas such as Sun Valley, Aspen, Vail, Keystone, Telluride, Copper Mountain, Sunday River, Wildcat, ShawneePeak, Sugarloaf, Killington, Waterville ...

5th Performance - Dartmouth Aires - "Club Can't Handle Me" By Flo Rida - Sing Off - Series 3
I give these guys props for rapping to a song like this rather than turning it into a ballad or just straight singing which most groups did this time with hip hop songs..but i'm not so sure the guy rapping was the right choice, maybe they picked him cause he's the best one they have that can actually rap lol but it sounded a little too soft imo. but taking risks can help you sometimes..B

1st Performance - Dartmouth Aires - "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder - Sing Off - Series 3
A good group of guys singing a song by stevie wonder. I thought they had a lot of good parts to it and the main singer is definitely the best to do this song...although sometimes i felt like something was too strained in this performance..something in the group chorus..B

9th Performance - Dartmouth Aires - "Ignition (Remix)" By R Kelly - Sing Off - Series 3
Actually i thought this group was more of a performing group as compared to being excellent singers lol, though they are good singers but probably not in the range of like "polished" singers as they say. This is more of the same of their usual fun performing numbers but i'm not so sure if they shown us anything as great as their queen performance and i don't think anything will top that..note the "think". Final Performance (2) - Dartmouth Aires & Ben Folds - "Not The Same" by Ben Folds - Sing Off - S3
I liked the way ben made the performance more entertaining by involving the audience but i can see why he was chosen to sing with the aires then since they are that group to get the crowd going too lol. He's actually a very good singer and it's a decent song...i'm guessing from his solo work? B+
6th Performance - Dartmouth Aires - Queen Medley - Sing Off - Series 3
After this, i'm sensing a 6th place finish just because i don't think they want college groups to overcrowd the final 4 and it's pretty much set that vocal point is their most favourite and afro blue does come from a college lol so that counts as one i guess. but it could be urban method going before they do but we'll see.. they sang Queen songs of "Killer Queen" & "Bohemian Rhapsody" & "Somebody To Love" Despite having an amazing performance this week which i find the best that this group has done so far. I'm glad that this group got better since their first performance and i didn't give them enough credit..a really talented group as a whole, not so much as any stand out singers though but still very good. I wonder how Kinfolk 9 would've done it with Moi lmao. A

12th Performance - Dartmouth Aires - "Shout" by The Isley Brothers - Sing Off - Series 3
This is their usual type of performances which show off their "goofy" side and i think that's their signature schtik with theatrics mixed in which makes them the type of group they're representing for most college guy groups. If they had standout performances every week, like the queen song, they could be a serious contender but i'm not sure if they can win still after this week..considering the audience has already voted a winner after tonight.
