April 13th 2011 Cal State LA Day of Action
15 out of 23 CSU Campuses marched to their administration building demanding quality education. The only way to do that is by the resignation of Chancellor Reed. Students at Cal State LA had to walk 8 flight of stairs to get to the President's office, demanding to see him. Unfortunately he was not "in" but they insisted that this "Is only the beginning to the struggle of Quality Education"

CSULA Baseball Report
CSULA Baseball have now won nine of their last twelve games in CCAA play after taking three out of four games in their series with Cal Poly Pomona on April 24-26. CSULA got great pitching outings from pitchers Isaac Morales and Nathan Pickett in games one and two, which were the last games played at Reeder Field in the regular season. CSULA would go onto split Saturday's doubleheader at Scolino's Field in Cal Poly Pomona. CSULA remains in third place in the CCAA standings trailing second place Sonoma State by one game. The Golden Eagles will travel to Sonoma for a four game road trip in a series that could determine who will be seeds two through four in the CCAA tournament in Palm Springs. CSULA ME Design: Bicycle Lab Project
Project Background: For our project, we will be analyzing the components of a bicycle and creating a lab for undergraduate students. The lab will allow the students to analyze and test certain components of a bicycle and have them apply equations and calculations based on their analysis. A part of the lab will also teach them the assembly and dis-assembly process for a bicycle, and the tools used in each situation. The main components that will be analyzed include the bike frame, the gears, and the power output of the bike. Gearing Components: Gears will be analyzed in order for a student to learn how different gear ratios affect the forward linear velocity of the bicycle. Bicycle Frame Structure: Analyze bike frame with Finite Element Method using frame equations. This will be done by applying a force on the seat and the bike handles and analyzing the distribution of the forces throughout the frame. The stresses and the displacements of each bar will then be analyzed and the maximum and minimum stresses and displacements will be determined. This will then be compared with computer software, PATRAN, to determine the accuracy of the equations. Power Input vs. Output: Analysis of the input versus output of power will be done using the mechanism below. The rear wheel is fixed with a generator which will be used to measure power output.
