HELPLESS, TEARS: Dealer says load of crab "contaminated with oil" -- STATE TRYING TO COVER IT UP
*Tears and a feeling of helplessness* When looking at a load of newly delivered crab, the smell "knocked us down," St. Bernard Parish seafood dealer Kevin Heier told Fox 8 New Orleans. "Heier believes the crabs were contaminated with oil," according to Fox 8. Heier was "in total shock" and had never seen anything like this before. Neither had his colleague who's been in the crab business for 60 years. They contacted the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, reported Fox 8 and Heier said, "We got a biologist that was supposed to come here. About an hour passed and he never showed up, so we called the biologist and he said my superior stopped me from coming." Fox 8 added that Heier said that after more than 24 hours "the catch can not be tested because all of the crabs have since died." "They died already," said another dealer. Heier told Fox 8, "It's like we can't get help from nobody." "Wildlife and Fisheries" said it will test the crabs if new samples are collected tomorrow. "St. Bernard fishermen, though, are convinced the crabs are full of oil and they believe the test results will prove their case," the report concludes. Joanna Newsom - Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie
One of the sweetest songs ever, with beautiful lyrics. Seriously, it's so worth buying (!) the CD. Photo by me. --- That means no Where I come from I am cold Out waiting for the day to come I chew my lips And I scratch my nose Feels so good to be a rose Oh don't, don't you life me up Like I'm that shy No no no no no Just five it up There are bats all dissolving in a row Into the wishy-washy dark that can't let go I cannot let go So I thank the Lord And I thank his sword 'Tho it be mincing up the morning, slightly bored Oh, oh morning without warning like a hole And I watch you go There are some mornings when the sky looks like a road There are some dragons who were built to have and hold And some machines are dropped from great heights lovingly And some great bellies ache with many bumblebees And they sting so terribly I do as I please Now I'm on my knees Your skin is something that I stir into my tea And I am watching you And you are starry, starry, starry And I'm tumbling down And I check a frown It's why I love this town Well, just look around Just see me serenaded hourly ! And celebrated sourly : Dedicated dourly Waltzing with the open sea Clam, crap, cockle, cowrie Oh will you just look at me

Hermit Crab in Glass Shell
Part of an art installation by Robert DuGrenier this happy hermit crab in a glass shell can now see his predators before they see him. He selected this shell after a molt and seems to be very happy. He was dipped in water to remove the sand just before I took this video that is why water is on his shell. He has been in his new "mobile home" since June 25th 2010. To buy glassshell.com The problem with collecting natural shell from the beach is that there is a huge shortage and the wild crabs can't find places to live. The wild population of crabs are in danger. Don't collect them from the beach!. This is my answer to help save the wild crab and also study the pet crab in captivity. Glass shells are much stronger and lighter than real shells I have never had one break in a tank only when someone dropped it out side of the cage.
