In it, a Russian woman can be heard complaining about the increasing temperature inside the craft before it is destroyed attempting re-entry. This was recorded by the Judica-Cordiglia brothers in 1961. It is reportedly one of many transmissions intercepted by the two brothers that prove the existence of the lost cosmonauts. The last radio transmission - , "cursing the people who had put him inside a botched spaceship." - Vladimir Komarov, is about to, literally, crash full speed into Earth, his body turning molten on impact. Convinced he will never make it back to Earth; he's talking to Alexei Kosygin — then a high official of the Soviet Union. The space vehicle is shoddily constructed, running dangerously low on fuel; its parachutes — though no one knows this — won't work US listening posts in Turkey hear him , angry, desperate, in tears - .the end was closing in on him. The Cosmonauts, Vladimir Kamarov and Soviet hero Yuri Gagarin, the first human to reach outer space. The two men were close; they socialized, hunted and drank together. In 1967, both men were assigned to the same Earth-orbiting mission, and both knew the space capsule was not safe to fly. Komarov told friends he knew he would probably die. But he wouldn't back out because he didn't want Gagarin to die. Gagarin would have been his replacement. The story begins around 1967, when Leonid Brezhnev, leader of the Soviet Union, decided to stage a spectacular midspace rendezvous between two Soviet spaceships. The plan was to launch a capsule, the Soyuz 1, with Komarov inside. The next day, a second vehicle would take off, with two additional cosmonauts; the two vehicles would meet, dock, Komarov would crawl from one vehicle to the other, exchanging places with a colleague, and come home in the second ship. The UFO was seen by everyone on board the plane. It was perfect triangle shaped and emitted a very bright, white light at a distance of about 1.5 kilometres and an altitude about 1000 metres above the airplane. The object had en estimated speed of 1500 km/h travelling parallel to the airplane and passed and overtook the plane in about 30 to 40 seconds. Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev, the world's most experienced space traveler, reflected on the tenth anniversary of permanent human occupancy of the International Space Station, its growth and maturation and its role in forging solid international relations through the station partnership during an interview October 5, 2010 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Krikalev, station Commander Bill Shepherd and Russian Flight Engineer Yuri Gidzenko launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on October 31, 2000 and arrived at the station on November 2, 2000. Krikalev spent 803 days in space during his six missions.

Heroes of the Russian cosmos The Red Stuff is a film about the first real explorers of the cosmos, the "Eaglets", from the early years of Russian space travel. A period in which Russians had one success after another and were streets ahead of their arch rivals, the Americans. In 1957 the first Russian Sputnik - the first artificial satellite in history - had scared the hell out of the Americans. Later that year the first living creature was sent in to space, the dog Laika. And in 1961 Yuri Gargarin earned his place in history as the first man in space. Soon after, he was followed by Gherman Titov, the second, who circled the earth even before the Americans could target their John Glenn. In '62 these triumphs were followed by the first manned flight for two and in 1965 by the first walk in space. But that success was soon overshadowed by the Americans who were the first to set foot on the moon in 1968 and were hence deemed to have won the space race. Propaganda interests Who were the people behind these first Russian successes? What kind of sacrifices had to be made? What is true and what is false in our view of Russian space exploration, distorted as it is by propaganda interests? With the demise of the Soviet Union, censorship has been reduced. And now this last bastion of military secrecy and political propaganda is crumbling, so the story of Russian space exploration can be told from a different perspective, without the familiar propaganda excesses.
