It is an attempt to show that co-operative societies are ran differently from other businesses as we are ran by individual members and not shareholders, and also help in showing off our more unified branding as "The co-operative" rather than "the co-op". Historically co-operative group businesses, co-op food shops and co-op banks and co-op travel, CIS etc., have had separate logo's and separate approaches to marketing which has probably led to a confusion of what "the co-op" is. Two years ago co-operative group started to introduce a unified "The co-operative" logo replacing the various old logos and trading names used across the family of businesses. Now this new logo and colour scheme (green for food, orange for travel, blue for financial, purple for funerals, turquoise for pharmacy) has reached critical mass it was felt it was the right time to communicate these new brands, and also the message that co-operative societies are good for everyone, as they can be owned by everyone and all profits that are not re-invested are paid out as dividend to ...

Twiyubake Family (known as "Twiyubake") is an Indego Africa partner cooperative located in the Kayonza District of Rwanda. Made up of 28 master banana leaf weavers, Twiyubake has made Indego Africa's beautiful Banana Platters since July 2008. Faced with the most difficult of circumstances, including the loss of multiple family members in the 1994 Genocide, these master weavers are determined to lift themselves out of poverty with spirit and dignity. Through the commitment of donors at The Falls Church, Indego Africa started its Literacy and Financial Management training programs at Twiyubake in 2009, and the women are already flourishing with their new skills and confidence. Cooperative Bubble Microrobots
Our lab at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa has developed an optically controlled microrobot system. The microrobots consist of very tiny (0.1 to 0.5 mm in diameter) air bubbles inside of a fluid-filled chamber. Light is used to heat the surface of the chamber, which generates a force that moves around the microrobots. The microrobots can be used move around objects that are less than a millimeter in size. Many microrobots can be independently controlled in parallel by using multiple light patterns. This can be useful for building structures made up of living cells. Cooperative Object Manipulation
Robots follow a line. An obstacle may appear on their track. One robot does not have sufficient power to push the obstacle away. However, when two robots cooperate, they are able to eject the obstacle out from their track. This example shows how to coordinate movements of robots. Robots perform line following, until one of them reaches the obstacle. Then, the robot stops and wait for help. When second robot comes to the obstacle, the control program in host issues synchronized movement commands, so that both robots move simultaneously and push the obstacle away from track. Afterwards, robots continue in line following, avoiding collisions with each other.
