Minecraft - Redstone Conway's Game of Life (Simulation Game)
Hey! Since i started playing Minecraft i've become interested in logic gates. This project took me about 6 hours in total, and please don't make any comments about this being a waste of time. Because while making this i really learned A LOT and i had really FUN doing it! This is the result of veeeery many logic gates working together. Each cell in this video calculates how many of the neighbour cells that are active. There can be 0-8 neighbours active. If the cell is active and have 2 or 3 neighbours it stays active. If the cell is dead and have 3 neighbours active, it's changed to active. If none of these conditions are met the cell dies. When not recording with fraps the calculation for each generation takes 2-6 seconds depending on the complexity of the pattern. Each cell has a width of 13 blocks, a length of 16 blocks and a height of about 35 blocks. So far the cells starting conditions are set off manually but i have saved loads of space in the design to make place for wires to make it more managable. LED Box running Conway's 'Game of Life'
This is my LED project which I thought I'd try running Conway's 'Game of Life' on. It's a game which uses a set of simple rules to create complex patterns. Each LED represents a cell which can be living (on) or dead (off). Every cell interacts with its surrounding eight neighbours as follows: 1. Any live cell with fewer than two live neighbours dies, as if caused by underpopulation. 2. Any live cell with more than three live neighbours dies, as if by overcrowding. 3. Any live cell with two or three live neighbours lives on to the next generation. 4. Any dead cell with exactly three live neighbours becomes a live cell. My version picks a random speed and LED colour. It also restarts after a set time, as often the game will reach an equilibrium and the patterns stop. I guess I should really be cleverer about this and detect when the patterns stop and then introduce new cells. In the multi colour version the cells change colour depending on how old they are - red being the youngest and white being are the oldest. There are actually 7 colours but it's hard to see them all in the video. The box itself uses 4 LED Matrices from Sparkfun driven by an Arduino.

This is the footage from the Persons Unknown documentary - I've cut it up and edited it with a Pied Bull soundtrack - liberties liberties - clearly it's a bit clunky in parts and there is much repetition of material - but it does give a bit of a flavour of the Crass live experience. Until the day that some real live footage with proper soundtrack turns up this is about as good as it gets.

Mike Conway HUGE Crash - 2010 Indy 500
Dario Franchitti won his 2nd Indianapolis 500, but Mike Conway was involved in a very bad wreck on the last lap when his car went airborne and into the fence. He was awake and alert, but had an injured leg and was flown to a local hospital because of traffic. More info will be posted when we hear more on his condition. Tony Kanaan started in dead last (33rd) and made his way up to the 2nd position with less than 10 laps to go, but he needed to pit for a quick splash of feul and finished 11th. ( www.lerroproductions.com ) A photo charter was hosted by Lerro Productions at the Conway scenic railroad during the first days of 2009. I was fortunate enough to be able to make the trip up to New Hampshire and film this rarity; a steam-powered freight train in the snow! Much thanks goes out to Pete Lerro and his crew for making this a memorable and worthwhile event. The cold temperatures were brutal, dropping to around zero during the Night Photo Session with 40 mile an hour gusts. Despite the frigid conditions, a fruitfull weekend was had for all of the photographers/videographers on hand. Hope you enjoy the video.
