Automated Conveyor Systems, Inc. - Product Model: HSS Medium Duty Slider Bed High Speed Sortation Conveyor. This conveyor features a high speed sortation system using "wheel diverters" that can sort packages to the left or right of the conveyor at high speeds up to 300 FPM (feet per minute). There is virtually no limit to the length of this sorter. Units up to 500 feet with as many as 30 diverts have been successfully built and installed. This unit can be designed to sort either "left" or "right" per divert module. Package weights can range from 3 pounds up to a maximum of 100 pounds. Package weight distribution (center of gravity) is more critical to a successful divert than the total weight of the conveyed product. The diverter is modular in design and can be installed at desired intervals as close as 3 feet centers minimum, up to any desired spacing. It utilizes a 3" long driven urethane coated roller, that on demand, rises 1/4" to 3/8" and skews 30 degrees to divert the package. When in the down position, these rollers act as a bridge to stabilize small packages. Required air pressure is 40 PSI minimum, to 60 PSI maximum. The HSS also features machine crowned pulleys, and all rollers have precision bearings. This unit provides a "gentle sort" based on the dynamics of the design. This conveyor features powered zero pressure accumulation, on demand drive rollers (activated by presence of product), low maintenance, very quiet (ABEC-1 precision bearings), energy efficient (24 Volt DC), is modular & flexible (can be re-configured), and is very safe. It has a low profile design, which creates built-in product guard rails. This conveyor is constructed of 12 gauge powder painted (baked on finish) formed HRS steel. The rollers are constructed of 1.9" diameter x 16 gauge galvanized steel tubing with 7/16" hex axles and ABEC-1 precision bearings. The zone accumulation is actuated by photo eye sensors, and is zero pressure (meaning no driving force on rollers while product is stopped during accumulation). All of the drives for this conveyor are built into the drive rollers, which means there is no need for chain or belt guards, and makes this conveyor low maintenance. The drive roller motors are 24VDC, brushless type motors (for long life and high output). The oceans are mostly composed of warm salty water near the surface over cold, less salty water in the ocean depths. These two regions don't mix except in certain special areas. The ocean currents, the movement of the ocean in the surface layer, are driven mostly by the wind. In certain areas near the polar oceans, the colder surface water also gets saltier due to evaporation or sea ice formation. In these regions, the surface water becomes dense enough to sink to the ocean depths. This pumping of surface water into the deep ocean forces the deep water to move horizontally until it can find an area on the world where it can rise back to the surface and close the current loop. This usually occurs in the equatorial ocean, mostly in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This very large, slow current is called the thermohaline circulation because it is caused by temperature and salinity (haline) variations. This animation shows one of the major regions where this pumping occurs, the North Atlantic Ocean around Greenland, Iceland, and the North Sea. The surface ocean current brings new water to this region from the South Atlantic via the Gulf Stream and the water returns to the South Atlantic via the North Atlantic Deep Water current.
