Two test jumps later and he was hovering 2400 feet above the ground in a helicopter, preparing to make stunt history. To succeed, he would need to leap from the aircraft, then guide his suit like a magic carpet down to earth, where a giant landing strip of 18600 cardboard boxes, 350 feet long, 50 feet wide and 12 feet had been constructed for him, nearly a mile from the jump site. During the test jumps he released his parachute just before landing. This final time, it was just him, the wingsuit and a lot of clear blue sky. Organisers estimated that Connery would be hitting the boxes at 50mph. "No-one's ever done this before," said Connery. "It was so comfortable, so soft. My calculations obviously worked out and I'm glad they did," he told Sky News afterwards. His wife Vivian said she was "relieved its all over". To prepare for the jump he underwent weeks of intensive training in Switzerland and Italy, leaping from mountains and cliffs to perfect his wing suit glide angle. As part of the preparations, Mr Connery studied the flight of kite birds and how they use their tail to control their flight direction. Gary Connery, 42, used a "wingsuit" to make his descent from 2400ft (730m) above Oxfordshire. The 42-year-old said he felt "elated" after landing on a pile of 18600 cardboard boxes. He was fitted with a parachute for the jump, which saw him accelerate to 80mph, but it was not deployed. The entire flight took less than a minute to complete. During the flight, father-of-two Mr Connery dropped for three seconds before his suit "started to fly". 'Plotting challenge' He used a landing strip of cardboard boxes, known as a box rig, covering about 350ft (100m) by 45ft (15m). Cameraman Mark Sutton also jumped from the helicopter in a wingsuit but deployed a parachute before landing. Minutes after landing, Mr Connery said: "I feel incredible, just completely elated. "I have been training and planning for this record attempt for many years now and I am so proud to have achieved a world first. "I want to thank everyone involved for their support and belief in me because this really has been a team effort. "Tonight will be all about celebrating with friends and family. The game will consist of five episodes, with the first episode scheduled to be released on 24th April 2012. Kirkman has said that, unlike typical zombie games such as Left 4 Dead, it will focus more on characterization and emotion than action. The game will feature cross-genre of both adventure and action, in which, like in the previous Telltale titles, the player must make use of inventory items and environment, however, unlike in them, the played characters will have limited time to do so and could die in the process. The game is told from the point of view of a new character named Lee Everett, who will be the only controllable character in the game. Lee will however be able to interact with the other survivors and his actions will influence the plot in particular ways (like, for example, at some point Lee will have to choose whom to save from the dead, and therefore by letting the other individual perish, some of the game plot will change, while other remains unchanged). Don't try this at home! Most of us think jumping out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft WITH a parachute is plain crazy. Well Gary Connery a stuntman from Oxfordshire took that one step further and did exactly just that but?.WITHOUT the parachute! Gary jumped out of a helicopter at 2400ft wearing a specially made 'wing suit' and thundered towards a cardboard box landing strip that a team of volunteers had taken six hours to build. After landing Gary was quoted as saying, 'My calculations obviously worked out?.and I'm glad they did'.
